We have followed Alan and Alice Sha in various venues in Tallahassee for 30 years. Their latest endeavor, is the Ming Tree Cafe on Killarney Way, if you are visiting Tallahassee, this unpretentious place is off the beaten path and worth the effort. No all you can eat buffet here, just food cooked fresh and to order. Best hot and sour soup we have tasted anywhere including Bejing. Kun Po shrimp and chicken are on the spicy side as these dishes should be. If you're lucky, you will visit the Ming Tree on one of the nights Chef Alan prepares duck. The lo mien dishes are always excellent as well. For apps the spare ribs are well worth a try. This is truly a family operation with Alice and her daughter taking care of the front and Chef Alan and son in the kitchen.

As good as you can get anywhere. The Hot and Sour soup is better that I've had anywhere - multiple locations in Asia included. Szechuan and Hunan regional dishes are outstanding. No buffet here - everything is made to order. Worth any amount of wait when crowded!

This is not one of those mass produced all you can eat buffets of mediocre food. Everything is cooked to order for you at the Ming Tree. I personally recommend the Hunan Shrimp or Chicken if you like a bit of spice with your Chinese faire. Lunch specials are fantastic.... you get soup, plus an entree, fried rice and an egg roll.

I wish we lived closer to Killearn. If we did, I can easily see us eating at Ming Tree at least once per week. The owners are very friendly, willing to tailor an order to your dietary preferences.

I eat Chinese food every couple of years, usually on a holiday when everything else is closed. However, if this restaurant was located near our part of Florida, we would be there at least once a week.

We discovered this jewel tucked into strip mall in Killearn this winter and we have become regulars. This is a very small restaurant with half a dozen tables and a limited menu. We've tried a large number of dishes and we have been impressed with each one. Our current favorites are the General Tso's Chicken and the Hunan Pork. All meals are cooked to order vs. the many warmed over buffets in town. The restaurant is family owned and operated; the service is quick and friendly. We highly recommend this new restaurant!
