We enjoy Lake Ella every year when we visit Tallahassee. It is a great place to walk and enjoy a picnic lunch. Even though it is in the midst of the city, it can be a place to relax, reflect and refresh.

Lake Ella has been a popular visitor spot since the earliest days of the automobile as it sits adjacent to what was once the main highway through Tallahassee. It's a scenic spot and a favorite with locals. It's perfect for an evening stroll and the quaint cottages, once serving as lodging for travelers, are now home to various shops and eateries.

Cant say enough about this park. See a lot of people, all type of animals and most of all how relaxing and clean. Only thing needed is more picnic tables. But just wonderful.

We stumbled upon Lake Ella on accident last year when we visited. We loved it so much we visited almost every day and made sure we didn't miss it this time around. It has a side walk trail around it that is 6/10 of a mile. Ducks everywhere! Can get pretty busy on the weekends, but we didn't mind. A few little shops around. I do not suggest attempting to grab a table over by the bathrooms-there are quite a few people who are homeless who occupy that space and may not want the company. ;-)
This is a beautiful, quaint lake that even has a resident cat, Charlie. We were lucky enough to be there when the Tallahassee Astrological Society was out with their telescope letting the public view the sun. I hear on Sunday evenings they come out and set up to see things too! :-)
