“Gets better all the time”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

The Riley House was always interesting, but it continues to get better with time. They have built a new visitor's center behind the original house and often host educational events that range from interesting lectures, to films. The newly opened Cascades Park and Smokey Hollow Village is a short walk away. You can easily spend several hours on site. The entrance fee is minimal. The small gift shop offers a wide array of local African American history books. Don't miss the animatronic 'Professor Riley' who will offer up words of wisdom and fascinate visitors of all interests - even those who think history is boring!

“Great historical and cultural site”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

This home of a prominent business man and educator tells ab important story about life in Tallahassee after reconstruction, following the Civil War. Mr. Riley had considerable influence in Tallahassee and thankfully, this wonderful house was preserved by local citizens. The guides are friendly, helpful and very knowledgable. Walk from the Riley House through the Smokey Hollow commoration at Tallahassee's new Cascades Park. It's a wonderful attraction and time well spent on your next visit to Florida's Capital.

“Fun Time”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

We enjoyed a guided stroll through the Reilly house, learning a lot about the racial problems of the past, the life of this truly inspiring man, and many other facets of life from long ago. Thou tour guide was so friendly and nice as well as informative, and we enjoyed a pleasant conversation with him. Everything is in good shape, and the museum goes beyond just the life of John G. Reilly.

“Pure inspiration”
Reviewed 19 July 2013

John G. Riley was one of the most influential black men of his time, and his legacy continues into this era. While in Tallahassee, take a moment and tour this wonderful place.

Such a lovely tour, and what a tour guide. The guy who did our tour is absolutely wonderful.
