This museum sometimes has great temporary exhibits. As a lover of fine art, and former art school student, I highly recommend visiting this place to feel enriched. Check online or in paper for the current exhibit before you go. You probably won't see a lot of advertisement. It is rare that I hear about exhibits at this museum. I think that Tallahassee is more about local folk art if any and while there is nothing wrong with that, it makes me sad. If you love big prestigious museums, you won't get that at FSU's attraction, but it will give you a fix if you are craving such a thing.

if you are on the campus, a stop at the art museum can be worthwhile – obviously the quality of the visit will much depend on the art currently being exhibited.

Temporary exhibit boasts a large private Rembrandt collection. Very worthwhile. Lighting could've been adjusted in portions of the exhibit. Nice Peruvian exhibit too

Not sure what their permanent collection is like, as only a few items (on the staircases and corridors) are shown. We saw three different temporary exhibitions here, with a mixture of classical (prints) and contemporary paintings and sculptures. This is obviously an institution that takes its mission as an arts faculty seriously.
