Tucked in a hard-to-see line of shops next to the "Tire Kingdom" on Capital Circle N.E. is the recently-opened newest location of one of Tallahassee's locally owned "Canopy Road Cafes." This is the home of great breakfasts and tasty lunches. You may have to wait for a table during peak dining periods, particularly Saturday for breakfast and the 11:45 to 1:00 weekday lunch rush.
Breakfast options are numerous. For a treat, try a sweet potato pancake, but plan to share it with the others at your table. It is a unique, very sweet, treat. Canopy's skillets and omelets are very good. If you want a basic breakfast, they have a special for under $6 including eggs and meat. Coffee flows abundantly at Canopy Road.
Hamburgers are a specialty for lunch, but there are other items, too. Ice tea and soft drinks are offered, with free refills.
If you want to break free of the breakfast food chains and the breakfast in a bag fast food offerings, give Canopy Road, Capital Circle NE a try. I think you'll be glad you did. Our "big" breakfast for two with coffee will run about $20 including tax and tip. You can eat for less by choosing alternatives. Pancakes and waffles are available, too.
