We were on a staycation close to my grandsons' home. We planned to do a lot of swimming and indulge in some cable tv. Rain washed out our plans for earlier in the day so we arrived at the Hilton Garden Inn at 1:30. We were very warmly greeted and told it would be a while for the room to be ready since the hotel was quite full. We were happy and fully prepared to wait in the lobby but by the time we unloaded our luggage, the room was ready.
Renee, who had cleaned our room, was in the hallway and made sure everything was to our satisfaction. She even offered to take the luggage cart down for us.
Since it was raining still we hung out and watched tv in the room. This would be the only negative for our stay. There were few good channel choices for kids. We would have loved History, Discovery, National Geographic, or even the Food channel. Yes, there was the Cartoon Network but it does not suit our kids.
It is a typical Garden Inn with fridge and microwave in the room. The room was a good size and well laid out. A little more bedside light would have been helpful but we were able to have 3 computers on the wireless internet at the same time. Awesome!
We had a good breakfast. The omelet and fruit were excellent, but the selection of pastries was small and they were fairly tasteless.
All in all it was a nice stay at a reasonable price.

I've stayed here twice and both times thought it was a good choice. You need a car but downtown, FSU, FAMU, the shopping center, the capital complex ,etc are close by. The hotel is a typical HGI. Nice, clean, nothing special but not disappointing either.
The staff in the dining area were really nice. I wasn't going to eat there but they convinced me to....
Easy to park, easy to get around town. Will stay there again next time I'm in Tally.

Stayed here for one night in August moving my daughter into her college room. Had a king room. Mattress was very comfortable with great feather pillows and nice duvet. Room was very quiet on the fifth floor, no traffic noise. Breakfast in the lobby is quick with a great selection. Starbucks is less than a mile down right off Blairstone, nice! Have stayed here several times and rooms are always clean and staff is very efficient. Will return!

I’ve stayed in many hotels but very few as nice as this one. It starts in the lobby with lots of light and windows to greet you with a cozy dining area.
It continues with warm front desk people and cookies in the evening. The rooms are pretty and clean and feel very comforting. There are even views, and free internet located on a roomy desk with a great chair and phone. The air conditioner doesn’t run all the time or make a lot of noise like many hotels.
If you forget something, they have it, and won't charge you for it. I forgot toothpaste.
They give you several nice towels and they are into saving water.
The hotel has a business area, which prints your boarding pass for free. You aren’t nickel and dimed at this place. I’m looking forward to coming back and looking for other Marriott garden hotels to visit when I travel.

Our two bed room was very small and cramped. The decor was attractive and the beds comfortable. The TV was an older big box. The bathroom was small with cheap fixtures - the towel bar fell down, tiny hair dryer, no make-up mirror. The shower water pressure was good. The coffee pot maker was old and worn. The room window did not open, so fresh air for the room was impossible. The hallways have a faint musty 'motel' like smell. The entire property appeared to be spotless. Our total room charge was $190.13 which is very pricey for the amenities offered. We ate dinner at Bella Bella on the edge of downtown - US 27. The place is very trendy and packed with locals. Our Italian dinners compared to the best of Chicago.

This hotel is in good shape physically; the lobby, elevators, halls, and rooms are fresh-looking and clean.

I had a whirlpool suite, which isn't really a suite because it's all one big room with no separate areas. It was plenty spacious, though, and well-appointed. The bathroom was well-lit, which was a pleasant departure from many hotels, and the shower head was nice and tall. The bed was very comfortable, although the pillows were way too squishy for my taste. High-speed Internet access was free. The air conditioner is the newer kind that doesn't run constantly, and when it cuts off you can hear traffic from the road below. Fortunately the traffic in that area does die down in the evenings, but if you're a sensitive sleeper you may want to bring a small fan for white noise.

The pool was nothing out of the ordinary, but was clean and in good shape.

I ran into a few problems... I had requested a lower-level room away from the elevator, but was given the EXACT opposite: a top-floor room directly beside the elevator. There was a burned-out light over the whirlpool. The safe didn't work (it was an electronic one that displayed an error message on the screen when you tried to lock it). And most annoying, the shower was SCALDING hot. Even on its coolest setting, it was just about unbearable.

I reported these issues on check-out (I was only there one night), and the clerk at the front desk was very apologetic. She credited me back the price of my and my wife's breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which was a nice gesture and something I had neither expected nor asked for.

Speaking of the restaurant... It has a combination of a buffet and cook-to-order eggs and waffles for breakfast. The food was good, but quite a bit overpriced (something like $10 or $11 per person).

Overall, I enjoyed the hotel and would stay there again. It's a solid 3 or 3.5-star property.
