Traveling in the Florida panhandle, we recently stumbled across a new lunch and dinner cafe at 1311 Miccosukee Road in Tallahassee, FL. Former Charleston-based Chef Dane Schaeffer and his Red Hills Cafe offer the culinary delights for lunch and dinner not often available near Tallahassee's medical complexes and downtown areas. With convenient parking in the rear, the shade-covered storefront and relaxed atmosphere offer the opportunity to sit and watch the rest of the world rush. Except on Sundays, Schaeffer serves up daily favorites including crab-dip filled with real crab meat, Manhattan Clam Chowder and, if you're lucky, a spectacular meatloaf. Drop by for a meal if you want a variety of foods to satisfy every palate at your table. Be sure to save room for what the children in our large party of 18 agreed was the best way to top off the meal: Chocolate Lava cake. Then walk off your meal by heading a few blocks west for a Capitol tour, a visit to the State History Museum or just a walking tour of the beautiful architecture along
nearby Miccosukee Road and Magnolia Drive neighborhoods. Give them a call at 850-878-5249 and see what they can tempt you with today!
