We were six family members, three generations. Our combined experience could not have been improved upon. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are most comfortable, spacious, modern, elegant, each floor a different color scheme with purposes like tranquility, contentment, connection with nature. The staff was efficient and extremely accommodating. The location: convenient. The cost: fair. Management made us huge fans. We look forward to a return stay.

I've stayed at the Hotel Duval a few times when I've had business to conduct at The Capital (which is a short walk from the hotel) and for some Florida State football games. It's certainly one of Tallahassee's better hotels. The beds are comfortable. And the rooftop bar is very convenient.

Thank you very much for the great review and we are pleased to hear Hotel Duval is your hotel of choice when in town to cheer on the Noles. The roof top lounge that you enjoy when staying here is called L8 and the view just can not be matched by anyone in town. We also have a new menu rolling out at L8 this week that you will be able to check out on your next visit, it offers some great new wines and hand crafted cocktails.

My husband, granddaughter and I stayed at Hotel Duval for an event at FSU. The room where we stayed was small (with two queen beds), but it was clean and the location was great. We stayed three nights but were not in the room during the day and the room size was adequate. It is a little stark in keeping with its modern design. The front desk staff and the valets were friendly and helpful. If returning to FSU for a similar event we stay at the Hotel Duval again.

The valets are very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff was pleasant, but nothing more. We had reserved an executive suite, and asked about an upgrade, but none were available. We had previously stayed here in a standard room type, and had been totally unimpressed for a number of reasons. We figured we would give it another try with a different room type. The only difference was a larger room with more problems. It was a very sterile room. It was almost like entering a cell. There were 2 rooms, separated by the infamous sliding glass door. The front room had a marble type floor, with no rug or carpets. The bedroom was carpeted. The front room had a small refrigerator, an ottoman, a bench like chair, a couch, 2 very small tables, and a large television. The bedroom had a desk and queen size bed, and a television. The desk really should have been in the front room, not the bedroom. It's not realistic if you are working, to do it in the bedroo. The closets were in the first room, as was the bathroom. The bathroom sliding door didn't close all the way. The bathroom sink area has absolutely no counter space. There was a small shelf below, but again, the space is limited. It is barely enough space for one, and definitely not enough space for 2. With such a small space, they should offer some type of vanity area in the front room to spread things out. Both the standard room and this room have enough space for this, and it is badly needed! The lighting is very dim, and insufficient throughout both rooms and the bathroom. The a/c unit is located in the bedroom, and there is no separate unit for the front room or the bathroom. If you are drying your hair in the bathroom it will get very hot. If you reserve this room and think you can close the door between the front room and the bedroom for privacy from the children, think again. The door must stay open or there won't be any cool air at all in the front area. The was a 220 plug for an a/c unit in the front room, so at one time it might have had a unit (maybe before the renovations), but the room we were in did not have a unit. There was also a sprinkler in the ceiling with a large, ugly hole around it that must have been overlooked. Overall, the room just seemed dingy, for lack of a better word, and in need of renovating. It is touted as modern, but we saw it as minimal. The cafe here, Leroc Cafe, was not good. On Saturday, they offered a breakfast "buffet" for $14.00. It was way overpriced and underwhelming! The staff was pleasant, but really not much service. Their was a mixed fruit bowl, yogurt and granola, a small plate of Danishes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, eggs, a French toast bread pudding, and grits. The pickings were slim. The eggs were hard and flavorless, the bacon was soggy, and the sausage was not good. The gravy for the biscuits was good, but the biscuits were hard. The coffee was served in paper cups, and no one ever refilled them. We had to ask for water. There was no toast or bagels offered as part of the buffet, but we asked for toast and were given one slice (2 might have been nice). Certainly, it wouldn't bee too much to ask to offer bread as part of the buffet. For such an autograph property, they need a much better restaurant for breakfast. It should have been included with your stay for the poor quality and minimal offerings. We expect much more from both a Marriott property and it's restaurant. The hotel needs serious room renovations and upgrading, especially for the rates they are charging. It is not worth visiting until that time.

Flalove2travel,
We thank you and appreciate all of your feedback as we are always trying to improve and it all starts with paying attention to details both big and small. Hotel Duval has just recently changed ownership and the focus is all on how to improve the details of not only the rooms and building but also the food and service in Leroc Bistro. I do apologize to you for not meeting or exceeding your expectations on your visit and I promise to utilize your feedback in training and in the plans for future renovations. Please come back and give us another try in the future as I know you will appreciate the improvements that we are implementing under the new ownership.

The location is excellent if you are doing business at the Capitol. The cafe is excellent. But the ultra modern revival misses the mark. A shower stall that you have to stand on river rocks! Really? A bathroom that does not exist except if you close semi sliding almost transparent doors? Maybe good for one person but no privacy for a double. Staff was very friendly and valet was quick but watch out for the required $12 per day valet charge because there is no other parking.
