Owner description: Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

“Very good zoo”
Reviewed 27 August 2014 via mobile

Being from the UK, I didn't have the biggest expectations going to a zoo but I was nicely surprised. There are lots of talks and things to do and everyone seems really friendly... Only slight thing I would change is the size of some of the enclosures. Seems some are a little small and it makes me slightly concerned about welfare but nowhere near as bad as some places you see. All in all a good zoo!

“Clean, well organised, spacious enclosures”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We really enjoyed this zoo. The place is clean and tidy, nicely organised with good signs and lots of information. The animals are in great condition, and in good sized enclosures. There are lots of little surprises: the children's area had a petting zoo and a splash zone, there's a mother & baby relaxing area, there's conservation info about the problems associated with palm oil, and lots of restrooms & drinks bars around. Food was good and not overpriced. Parking is free, not far away, and (some of it) in the shade of trees. The gift shop is small, but with a reasonable choice. The 'Gator Falls' ride is great fun, and there's no additional charge for it... same with the safari train ride for a close-up view of some of the animals. Lots of 'feed the...' experiences which do cost an additional fee, but well worth $3 to feed a giraffe and get your photo taken! Highly recommended for children & adults. A great day out!!

The Lowry Park Zoo is a fun place to take kids and enjoy a day of watching animals and making memories. It also has interactive areas throughout the parl along with a splash area and rides. No outside food can be brought in, but they do have snacks for purchase.

“A great family Zoo”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Plenty of animals to see in nice surroundings. We chose to visit Lowry Zoo instead Disney Animal Kingdom in Orlando, mainly because of the high prices at Disney. We didn't know what to expect but were glad of our choice. There's plenty to do and see for all ages and particular good for families. Food and drink isn't expensive and parking is free. All in all, a great day out.
