“Love the Big Cats”

Spent the morning touring at Big Cat Rescue. Impressive facility with strong message of advocacy. Cats are well cared for, alert, and appear happy. Excellent guides. The combination of guide talks and pre-recorded audio was engaging and educational. I'll be reserving a private photo tour.

“BIG CATS good cause”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014 via mobile

Nice big cats!! Calm, cautious and informative tour guides. The cats are all in good health, and you can see the trainers and tour guides love the cats. Amazing animals, Great cause. Take a tour, you'll see some huge cats and help pay the kitty kibble bill!

“Some big cats that need tlc”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

This place does a good job of what it claims - rescuing big cats. Many of their cats came from sub-optimal situations (declawed, defanged, etc.) and many are quite old. While they do have some lions, tigers, leopards many more of their cats are smaller big cats like civets that people tried to keep as pets. We went on the feeding tour and saw about a dozen or so fed. Unlike some zoos I've been to when feeding time was a loud raucous affair, these cats were virtually silent and most just calmly ate their food.

The tour is pricey which is somewhat understandable since it is their dominant revenue source so consider a significant portion of it as a donation.

If you are really into their mission of saving big cats, it is likely worth it. If you prefer seeing animals in better condition and of more mixed ages, go to a zoo.

“Rained Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

I’m giving the BigCat Rescue a high rating mainly because of their work to help save these beautiful animals and the cost of feeding them. Unfortunately, the day we took the tour many of the cats were not out in the open or very active, probably because they knew a storm was coming, which it did in a vengeance and as we walked back to the center soaking wet, I could hear the cats in their protective compounds saying “Stupid Humans”. Because of the storm our tour was cut short and we were given return tickets for a visit on a nicer day.

“informative, interesting, a good cause”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

beautiful big cats - lions, tigers, ocelots, panthers, etc. They "rescue" animals from horrible conditions elsewhere, give them a "Forever Home" with proper vet care, good food, and grass underfoot. The tours are informative and well done. Very interesting. Sad, too, to hear of the abuse these lovely animals endured in the past. Well worth the time to visit. The small donation fee is used for the feeding and care of these beautiful creatures. Easy walking on trails to see the cats. Trails are mostly in the shade. HOT in the summer. (it's Florida, LOL)
