Owner description: Experience 12,000 years of powerful stories at the Tampa Bay History Center. During your journey, you will stroll through a 1920s-era cigar store, row up the Hillsborough River, ride along with a cattle drive and learn about the early exploration of Florida. This waterfront building, with an eclectic Museum Store and the signature Columbia Cafe, is a memorable experience for families, history enthusiasts, Tampa area natives and beyond.

Me, my mom and kids aged 10 & 15 spent a weekend afternoon here in Sept. It is a small museum so we were able to see everything in less than 2 hours. Lots of great history and artifacts from Tampa (my birthplace). We had lunch @ the Columbia Cafe out on the patio when we were done. It was really hot but they had nice big umbrellas and giant fans to keep everyone cool. The food was amazing, as expected from the Columbia and set me back about $60 for the four of us. All around a nice way to spend a here in the Tampa area.

wonderful way to see the history of the area and was right on the River Walk. Liked the Heroes Honors area by the entrance to the museum.

A nice but small museum. Great location along the Hillsbourough River and near the Times Forum and the Aquarium. Exhibit is centered around the history of Tampa Bay and highlights early Indian and Spanish settlements, the growth of the region with ranching, citrus and other industry and to the present day. It also features a Columbian Café, a branch of the famous Ybor City restaurant. Not a bad way to spend some time if in the Downtown area but I wouldn’t come out of your way to visit. Fair admission price and great location, with a friendly front desk staff.

My husband went on a Saturday and enjoyed lunch at the Columbia Cafe - which was excellent. We then ventured into the museum just in time for the movie. There are at least two movies in the museum and both are very well done. The museum is interactive and makes history come alive. We were shocked when we heard the announcement that the museum was closing in 10 minutes. Time flew past as we enjoyed all that the museum had to offer.
