Owner description: Experience 12,000 years of powerful stories at the Tampa Bay History Center. During your journey, you will stroll through a 1920s-era cigar store, row up the Hillsborough River, ride along with a cattle drive and learn about the early exploration of Florida. This history center records the history of the Hillsborough & Pinellas County area from the time of the Indians through the Spanish explorers to the presents....warts and all. When you're all finished the lobby houses the Columbia Cafe. Excellent Cuban food.

We loved visiting here. We found it's a great place to bring visitors to the area, not too big, not too small, loved the recorded shows! Nice to learn more about the area and Florida!

This is a great bite-sized cultural museum right on the famous and beautiful Tampa River Walk. It was a great way to finish off our vacation on a rainy day. Just enough info in interesting displays for all ages. They recommend 2 hours for your tour. You can get a bite to eat at the Columbia Cafe while you are there. Plenty of seating indoors or out with a lovely view!

Having only visited Tampa once before, we had not had a chance to visit the History Center previously. It takes a bit of navigating to find it (many roads in Tampa appear to be under construction) but is well worth the time. And the dining! A full-scale Spanish/Cuban restaurant in the foyer with a million dollar view. Really wonderful
