“Typical Piano Bar”
Reviewed 9 June 2012

I love a good piano bar, and this one fit the bill. There just wasn't a good crowd there when we were there. Most of the patrons were young and didn't seem to "get it" or maybe they were just starting their nights there and were wanting something more like a club. Not sure, but they pianists were really good, playing all our requests for $1 each request. They served some big drink with like a dozen straws in it to share, but we didn't get this. A lot of people had these, we saw.

Stop in and have a drink. You will end up spending more time that you plan here and be thankful for it. Great entertainment.

“Nice Change Up When at Channelside”
Reviewed 11 March 2011

Howl at the Moon is at the Channelside plaza in downtown Tampa. If you are in the middle of Channelside, the easiest way to get there is to go through the Stumps Supper Club, exit out the back and walk to the right until you see the bouncer.

Cover was $5 when were there and we were lucky enough to grab the last available table on the floor. If there are no more tables, you have to stand along the back, which isn't that bad because there is a railing you can lean on and you will have quick access to the bar. The earlier you get there, so easier it is for you to get a table. If you want hang out by the bar, the bar in the back is less crowded than the bar to the right when you walk in.

Drink prices are normal. The main piano area has two grand pianos and a drum set up between them. Behind the back of the piano is a big mirror which people can pay to have their saying on there. The price keeps going up throughout the night as the bid to have your saying up there goes up and up.

There are usually 4 different piano players, going two at a time. Sometimes, the two that are break get on the drums and the bass and play along. That is when it sounds the best.

At the tables, it is usually easier to get drinks from the bar and bring that back to your table. The cocktail servers get real busy and it takes a while sometimes.

We stayed for a couple of hours and then proceeded over to Splitzville for some bowling.

Howl at the Moon is the most energetic fun thing you can do in Channelside.
