“Authentic Thai temple in Tampa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2013

A virtual trip to Thailand: beautiful temple surrounded by spacious riverside grounds, a welcoming community gathering-spot, a food festival to raise money for the temple...even a temple dog wandering among visitors. I recommend heading here any Sunday for a wide assortment of Thai street food prepared and served by smiling volunteers, most of whom speak Thai. After buying your food at a stall, take it to a picnic table (which you'll probably share with others). Enjoy the food and views of the temple and Palm River. Buy extra grilled sate or curry to take home for dinner! People traveling through or living in the Tampa area are fortunate to be able to visit this lovely bit of Thai culture. The English version of the temple website is http://wattampainenglish.com/

“Beautiful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2012

The temple is beautiful, the food is delicious and reasonably priced, the riverfront is peaceful and the people are friendly. They have many delicious choices so you are sure to find some familiar food as well as some things you have never tried before. They also have a side plant sale with all sorts of edibles as well as ornamentals. They don't proselytize or encourage meditation attendance, they just serve good cheap food. They are not vegetarian friendly however as most dishes either contain some meat or are at least cooked in meat broth. Sorry to the veggies out there but it is delicious!

“Fun, tasty, reasonably-priced cultural experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2012

We recently stumbled upon this wonderful Sunday brunch at the Buddhist Temple, and it's worth a visit for both great food and a delightful atmosphere! The temple is located along the Alafia River, and you can purchase fantastic Thai food here...noodle bowls, curries, satay, fried bananas, vegetable and shrimp rolls and beautiful desserts. Most are offered for a $5 donation. They have many picnic tables set up alongside the Alafia River, and it's pleasant to sit outdoors and enjoy the day and experience the food of another culture.

This place was amazing the food was great and it was an overall great cultural experience. You can see the temple inside and also met some great hosts willing to teach you about their culture.
