Every sunday from around 9-1 people gather at the thai temple for some excellent thai food and great atmosphere. It has become not so much of a secret, so you may experience longer lines and difficulty parking but not too bad. People wait in massive lines for the soup, it is excellent but I think everything else is just as good. Grab some food, head down and share a bench with someone. Take a short walk by the river and stop by the worship temple on your way out. Great meal and experience on a sunday and your done before it's even the afternoon.

Most Tampans are not aware that this beautiful Thai temple is located southeast of Tampa. On Sunday there is a Market which serves grilled pork and chicken on sticks, egg rolls, Phat Thai, curry dishes, fried bananas, drinks, and deserts. It is a great educational experience for young children.

I hesitated a long time to write this review because I respect the people and the place.

It used to go there all the time and it was a place where non Asians and specifically non Thai represented a small portion of the visitors.
Food used to be good, cheap and in decent quantities with enough meat in the meat dishes.
Soup used to be $5 for a large bowl and you waited 5-10mn at most.

The reality now: they priced the soup at $6 and $8, still the same size and barely bigger for the large bowl and let's remember it's soup... and you still only get 3 or 4 small factory made meatballs, not to mention that the line is AT LEAST 45mn and no A/C...! Again, it's just soup.

The curry boxes got smaller, less meat, less sauce unless you insist.

Tea cups got smaller by 50%, are full of ice, so you pay for 1 cup (literally) of beverage in a 3 cup container; 3 sips and it's gone.

I'm not going to enumerate all the stuff that have gone up in price, down in quantity and sometimes in quality, this is just to make a point.

Like any other place in the world I've been too, including Thailand, we see the same thing happening when is demand increases.

It used to be an authentic relaxing family place where you could park, eat, sit without having to fight or be there before the cooks arrive; now it's just another place riddled by capitalism and greed. It's all run by volunteers so the money goes to put more gold paint on Buddha I guess...

Sorry guys from the Temple, I love your place and only sadness makes me write those words but it's gotten out of hands,
Sunday at 11:30 feels like Walmart on Black Friday !
Great for people in need of a fake real experience though.

I went there for the food on Sunday. They have a lot of food choices starting at about $5. although it can get very busy it is still a very relaxing atmosphere eating outside by the water. Tip: you need to get there early at around 10-10:30 because the parking lot fills up fast and they start to run out of food by 1:00.
Its not the type of place I would go to often but it is definitely something different to try once.
