Nice park and we'll organized festival (gasparilla music Fest). Great access to all the museums. Tasty food vendors. Too many competing stages for my taste. Very very picturesque. Lots to look at and photograph.

Thank Nancy L

This is a great place for an outdoor venue. There is a parking garage next to the park. Nice area on the Hillsborough river but don't expect to stay late, the park closes at 10 due to the noise ordinance.

Set in downtown, on the river, across from the gorgeous turrets of University of tampa, you cant beat this spot. Hixon has become a location for what seems to be a weekly festival, concert or art fair. Parking can be a little tricky but it's a great way to soak up an amazing tampa landscape. Also plenty of restaurants and bars in downtown for pre/post Hixon activities.

They were having a "fresh mart" in downtown Tampa this past weekend so my wife and I decided to check it out Sunday. The location is nice as it overlooks the river and The University of Tampa and it's beautiful minarets, and is centrally located so you can walk all over downtown. It was clean and well kept and worth a visit when an event is going on. However, you should go in the evening or during the cooler months, as shade is limited. This is a perfect place for night concerts and special events when it's cool. I would recommend.

By parking at the parking garage by the Downtown Library, you can visit the local museums or take a walk in this large park of grass and steps to Riverwalk, which has statues and exhibits about the Hillsborough River. At other times this park will be packed with events of music, dance, and food. All that is missing is Elvis (whom I saw perform at Curtis Hixon when it was a performance hall.).
