This hotel was great, but reminded me of all the hotels we have stayed at for business meetings. Not that that is a bad thing...but a Florida vacation for us is all about the Beach! The bay the Hyatt sits on is beautiful and has tropical birds with great pier for close up views. There are bikes to rent directly from the hotel. The beds were not great but comfortable enough. If you want a room with tub you must request when booking.Easy access on and off the freeway and really close to the airport. Down side of this hotel for me was that there are no windows that open for fresh air. Plus is that parking is free. We had dinner at the restaurant "Oystercatchers" and really enjoyed our dinner.

Room Tip: Middle floors have better views. Top floors are very high and so far from the bay as you look down.

Stayed here for only a few days in February 2014. The weather was horrible, rainy and cold every day but the last (isn't that the way it happens sometimes). First off, the hotel staff was super friendly and very helpful. We booked the hotel through Priceline or Hotwire and requested a King Room. When we arrived they had us as two doubles. Since there were no Kings available in the main hotel they upgraded us to a Casita. The first night in the Casita we had what sounded like an MTV House Party next door, I called the front desk and someone came right away to quiet the room down. I'm not really a party pooper but it was 2:30AM! The next morning we went back to the front desk and asked to change rooms since we didn't want a repeat of the last night. Luckily, the conference that was in the hotel the day before had ended and rooms were now available.. and so we moved on up. Because of the staffs accommodating nature and upbeat attitudes I'd give it 5-stars right away.

We had the buffet breakfast each morning. Wonderful food.. and the fresh fruit juices were fantastic!

On our last day when the sun was out we were able to walk around the property.. to see what we missed. Really great pool area near the Casitas, awesome pier.. got to see dolphins swimming near it, there were some guys fishing (they just picked up gear from Walmart), Wish we had a few more days of nice weather that we could enjoy the outdoors more. We go to Tampa often and would stay here again.

Clean, quite and spacious rooms.
Very good service. The icing of the cake is the rooms view of the Bay. Watching the sunset at your big window is just amazing. Tampa has the most beautiful sunset in the world!
The breakfast buffet is good as well.

I was given a 3rd floor room facing the bay. Great view plus couldn't hear planes take off and land from my room. Concierge service was great, plus the wait staff at Oysters was exceptional. Couple groups in town during week I stayed (Mon-Fri) but didn't interfere with my visit or space in parking garage. Grounds are beautiful and would consider coming back.

Room Tip: Ask for bay side, king size bed

We stayed here 3 nights half on business and half vacation. My wife and I found the service exceptionally friendly and this held true at a Hyatt in Clearwater beach where we visited making me believe the company goes to lengths to train the staff in this regard.
Room service was efficient and if you want something less ostentatious than Armani's (the very good Italian restaurant with amazing views) order the margarita pizza. We did not get to Oyster Catcher's the other restaurant on site.
The exercise area is pretty good with I think 3-4 treadmills, 5 elipticals, bikes and a mix of free weights up to 50 pounds and misc. pulley-system machines all very industrial and high end, none of the shabby, unstable, cheap stuff.
Shuttle service to/from airport was great also very customer service oriented. We would definitely stay here again.

If I have to stay in one of these American hotels again I may think of committing suicide. Everything is so standard and average, the awful food, the cliche greetings, the poor, clueless service, the tacky decoration and so on. The bay is gorgeous but ruined by a highway in the middle. What save the day is watching the pelicans when running between the beach and guess, the highway.

I could not speak more highly about the staff of the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay! Everyone we came into contact with was superbly friendly, very accommodating, and was always asking how our stay was. We seemed to be the only people with small children in the hotel, and the staff still seemed to love having them there. The newly-updated rooms are tastefully-decorated, spacious, and comfortable. The room service, meeting room catering, and Armani's had excellent food and service as well. The beach in front of Oystercatchers was perfect for little ones to dig in. We even saw a dolphin! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
