This is a nice location, a nice hotel run by nice people. So why did I check out one day early even though I had paid. The air conditioning unit in the room was unbearable. After 3 of 4 nights of little sleep, I had to check out. The first 2 nights the unit would not switch off. Following the maintenance of the unit, then it would only cut in if you switched it to 61. Then it was on again until you turned the power off.
The staff were good if not exemplary, but the rooms need some work, and the air conditioning units need replacing.

Room Tip: Get a room with an older air conditioning unit. They work loud, but cut off.

My husband, daughter & two small grandchildren stayed here overnight after flying in from England. We booked adjoining king rooms and they were large and very comfortable. Although there is not a restaurant as such, the food we ate in the bar was freshly made and tasty. The breakfast was self service but there was plenty to choose from. The best feature of the hotel was the staff, especially a young man named Ian who could not have done more for us.

Room Tip: We stayed in adjoining king rooms on floor 6 which were large and very comfortable.

I am very impressed with the Hyatt Place. The people are very nice! They constantly asked us how our room is and if we needed anything. They even spent a half an hour talking to us about the best restaurants in the area. Not only is the service outstanding, the pool area is a great place to kick back and relax. Also, there is a very nice mall a block down with stores like Armani, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, etc. All in all, this is a great place to stay in the Tampa area.

We booked at the Hyatt Place for a few reasons. Location, price and decent looking rooms and reviews. Check in was a breeze because we were prepaid on Priceline.com. The front desk staff were friendly and professional. We needed a crib and they brought it up very quickly.
Basic king rooms were roomy and comfortable. Bathroom was in the rear of the room and super small. It was a really weird set up but it worked for the one night we were there. Bed was comfortable. Fridge and sink area were a nice bonus. One thing that I have never run into before was there was no safe. We looked everywhere and came to the conclusion tang there wasn't one. That was a small issue for us since we had quite a bit of cash on us as well as electronics that we would have liked to keep in a safe while we were at dinner, breakfast, the pool. Instead we had to bring our large bag with us.
The included breakfast was TERRIBLE. So so so bad. Food that should be warm was cold. Food that should have been cold was warm.
It was completely disgusting. I ended up with a dried out bagel with warm cream cheese and the only thing I dared feed my son was toast with peanut butter. The floor was so sticky that I'm afraid my shoes will never be the same.
They either need to greatly improve breakfast or do away with it all together.
We used the pool which was a little cold and had a few leaves in it but was a nice thing to have to take a quick dip with our son who loves water. Parking lot was decent, safe and FREE.

The room and our stay was fine. It was our return shuttle back that was a disappointment. We waited approximately 40 + minutes on a shuttle after making several calls that said a driver was dropping another group off at the port. This is very frustrating with three children and a 15 hour drive home. They seriously need to reevaluate their procedure for returning cruise guests. You would think that they would know how many passengers were to be picked up and make appropriate accommodations so the wait time would be significantly reduced. Hyatt generally impresses me, but this was a serious let down.
