We tried Zante's with friends because it sounded like a fun place with good food. We got there for our reservation and were seated right away. So far so good. Downhill from there. This is a family run place and the servers are mostly kids. One of the girls took our drink orders and then it was about 15 minutes before they came back with the drinks. There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant so they weren't busy. While we waited we heard the owner (dad) shouting angrily about wanting to punch someone. We probably should have gotten up and left then.
The food was delivered very slowly and not together. They brought our orders one at a time with a couple of minutes between each delivery. The food itself was mixed, from pretty bad to mediocre to good. Don't bother with the baba ganoush- flavorless. But the server noticed we didn't like it and did not charge us for it. Another disappointment was the warm goat cheese salad -not exactly as advertised. The gumbo was okay and the other salads were good. Entrees - my grouper Elizabeth had good flavor but it was so swimming in oil that it was unappetizing. The grouper menieure looked like tilapia. My husbands bayou pasta was okay. The only real success was the jambalaya that our friend ordered spicy and he seemed to love it.
The service was extremely disorganized and slow and as soon as we paid the bill, the 12 year old son was sent over to tell us we needed to give up the table because they had people waiting. There were other open tables available so that was unnecessary and made our whole experience even worse. We were ready to leave anyhow, so we did. On the way out we heard them asking another table to vacate as well.
Horrible way to treat customers. We won't be back nor would we recommend this place to anyone.
