We launched our boat here and it is a lovely little park. Huge, beautiful old oaks covered in Spanish moss. Nice picnic area and benches overlooking the Dora Canal. There were some very friendly birds that I believe I could have fed, if I had anything to offer.

A wonderful little park, shaded by immense old trees, with clean restrooms, picnic tables, a boat launch. We had a picnic lunch on the awesome swinging benches overlooking the Dora Canal.

For us, this was a rest stop while traveling through Florida with our tandem kayak. It was way too windy to kayak on the local lakes, so we found this little park as a great place to launch our boat on the Dora Canal. And it proved to be a fantastic experience. The canal is only about 1.2 miles long, so the paddle is short. But you feel like you are transported to another, very jungly, world, with huge cypresses (and their knees), Florida wetland plants of every sort creating gardens on the shore, and wildlife galore. We saw many anhinga, with one high up on a nest. Then, there were great blue herons, great white egrets, tricolor herons, and other wading birds. There were also small alligators sunning themselves on the shore, and turtles, of course.

We went on a weekday in March, and pretty much had the canal to ourselves, other than an occasional passing motorboat, or tour-boat--all of which were slow moving, and very friendly.

Summerall Park is a charming gateway to a magical experience.

For more than thirty years my friends and I have launched boats here into the Dora Canal which leads to a chain of several lakes. The small park has rest rooms, not Port-a-Potties, a couple of picnic tables and a nice boat ramp. We have also eaten a picnic lunch at a picnic table there. Although it is small it is really nice, shady and well kept up!

This is a small park that has offstreet parking, and fronts onto a canal. It's a short walk to a Dunkin Donuts, and makes for a fun hour or two with the kids.

Nice park to go to for a picnic - picnic tables, barbeque grills, and swings overlooking the canal to sit and eat, read and just enjoy it

The city of Tavares has done a wonderful job restoring this little park. They put in new bathroom facilities, a pavilion with picnic table and grill, and added several more park benches and picnic tables. The best part is the swinging benches right on the Dora Canal. Great place to relax and watch the boaters cruise the canal or just enjoy the wildlife. Excellent for picnics. Definitely worth a visit.
