My husband and I are Central Florida residents, and we occasionally take last minute
trips to the beach when we need that beach fix. We do not seek out the chains, luxury condos or the like, but love small, old-fashioned, "smack-on-the-beach" places. We happened on Seahorse Cottages after a friend had mentioned going there years ago. I looked them up and saw the pictures of the beach cabins, and decided to give them a try. We loved it!
The cabins are rustic, but clean and well-appointed with basics. You walk out your door onto sand and stroll down to the gorgeous beach with protected intact dunes and wonderful shells and sunsets. Publix (supermarket) is a quick walk across the street, very convenient. There are tons of good restaurants in the area also.
We talked to another visitor at the Cottages who used to come there years ago with their family. It's that kind of place, with a history and memories of happy guests over the years. The Cottages have been recently taken over by Vicinity Vacation Rentals, who are in the process of doing renovations and repairs -giving the place a fresher look. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.
My ratings are based on what we personally value in our beach stays. This is not a place for those looking to be pampered, or for luxury surroundings but a great beach experience.
