“Serene Oasis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 April 2014

This sweet little motel is just that, a very serene oasis. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, with gorgeous views of sand and sea and palms. The warm and neutral color scheme of the entire place is sophisticated, yet simple, and very calming. Yes, some areas still show hints of the motel's past, like the bathroom in our room, but I knew that at booking. However, it was clean and bright and that's good enough for me. We were there for the views.

Everything good in previous reviews are true. Beach towels are provided, pool toys, new grills. And we found the staff to be friendly enough and helpful. We did not get to sit fireside as hoped because they didn't have any wood at the time we were there, but if we brought our own we could have made a fire. I wish they just made this a standard feature, to have a fire each night.

But to say "Do not stay here"? That's a bit extreme. You'd be missing reasonable rates for a quiet little spot on Treasure Island. The other vacationers we encountered there all seemed just as pleased with their choice, were laid back, and having a great time. Ok wait, yes, don't stay here! Then it will be available for when I book again!!

Room Tip: We really liked the pool side rooms and next time I may ask to be on the south side of the pool on t...

I really liked this hotel and it's right on the beach. The front office staff was very nice. The grounds are also nice and the room was comfortable. The bathroom could use an updating, but overall I was pleased. I'm definitly going back.

Room Tip: Book one of the one bedroom suites with living room on the second floor overlooking the gulf.

Prior to making our reservation at this location, I reviewed this hotels reviews as well as others. Having lived in hotels 5 days a week I could find fault with any hotel brand or location should that be my purpose. This property was still undergoing some room renovations while we were here but it did not interfere with our stay. You can see that they are putting the time and energy into the place. I can only speak about the room that we had which was a double queen suite. The bed was comfortable, it was comparable to 90% of any other hotel bedding, not to mention we didn't head to Florida to spend our time in our room with exception of sleeping and cleaning up. The room was as advertised although with a party of three we were only left towel sets for two which was identified and corrected after notifying housekeeping. The staff was friendly and informative. The location of the hotel is great for going to and/or walking the beach or walkway. BTW, the pool water was 90 degrees and my son gave it two thumbs up.

First, let me say this will likely be a lengthy review. I know when I am traveling I take the time to do research on Trip Advisor and have found it helpful on many occasions. I am hoping my review will help others.
I went back and forth between a terrible and poor rating for this location. I decided on poor as there were a few redeeming qualities...mainly the location as it is right on the beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The staff were all friendly, helpful and accommodating and they can't control many of the issues we had with this location.
We stayed in two rooms during our visit. Room 230, which was a "studio" type room that had a small sitting area, kitchenette, sofa bed and separate room with two queen beds. This room provided us with a view of both the ocean and the pool area. This room was dark and dated. The dressers were old and chipping and the bathroom was very small. The tub looked to have been painted over and was chipping paint, therefore preventing the water from draining properly. There were 2 closets, which had no doors and a few hangers. There was an iron and ironing board. The kitchen area had a microwave and one cup coffee maker as well as a college size fridge. There weren't any supplies for the coffee maker in this room. A few nights later we moved to Room 232. This room was one room with a table and chairs, kitchenette area, college size and regular size fridge, king size bed and private balcony overlooking the beach. The bathroom in this room was a bit larger, but again, the tub looked as though it was painted over and chipping. The furniture was old and chipping as well and this room was also dark. In both rooms we had light switches that seemed to operate nothing. The doors in both rooms stuck and the doors did not easily unlock with the keys. The continental breakfast their website advertises was coffee. Room service was sporadic...some days our room was cleaned, some days it wasn't. Luckily we brought shower gel and shampoo with us as we did not receive replacements on some days. The beds in both rooms were ok, but not what you would expect from a "renovated" hotel.
PROS: Located right on the beach
Walking path between the hotel and the actual beach
Grounds are well maintained (I think that's where the renovation money was spent)
Pool area is nice (we did not have issues with people "saving chairs" as some have noted in their reviews, but I could see that happening)
Staff are all friendly and accommodating
Walking distance to shops and restaurants as well as John's Pass
There was a shuffleboard court, 2 BBQ Grills and a fire pit for guests to use (bring your own wood for the fire pit)
They offer a weekly rate discount (which is a cost savings if you choose to stay a week)

CONS: Rooms are still in need of renovation
Rooms very dark and need better lighting
Furniture old and chipping
Tubs painted over and chipping
Carpets need to be replaced
Room service sporadic
Room cleanliness sub-par (likely due to its current condition)
Bathrooms are small and dated
Rooms smell musty
Website does not correctly reflect current conditions

This hotel must still be continuing their renovations instead of being fully renovated as indicated on their website. Buyer beware...

Room Tip: Beach view rooms seem to be the best from what we saw as well as what other guests described. But ev...

We had three bedrooms for one night . Ours was a queen bed . It was quite comfortable . The bathroom was small and something was spilled on the cupboard door under the sink . The bath didn't look clean and we wore beach shoes to stand in it to shower . The room was quite dark . There were coffee grounds left in the coffee maker so we didn't use that . The two family rooms had two beds in and showers which looked a bit cleaner . The pool area was pleasant but if it had been busy there wouldn't have been enough seats . The children enjoyed being in it . It's not too far to walk to the beach . We walked to John's pass , 20 minutes or so . We were told that new management had stopped doing breakfasts . There was a coffee machine in the reception area . We knew it wouldn't be anything fancy for the price we paid . Slightly disappointed that it wasn't as clean as it should have been but it was ok for one night .

While the staff tried hard to accommodate the rooms were awful. They were hardly renovated. The first room was unvacuumed they moved us to another room that had a leaky toilet, ants, windows that did not lock on the ground floor. It was just overall a dump in the rooms. We changed hotels after one night.

The website notes that the property is "newly renovated", and while the exterior of the property has been recently updated - the rooms need serious attention. We had two rooms on the property. One was a queen/queen "suite" with a pull out couch. The decor was seriously dated, the bathroom was in horrible shape and tiny, and the linens were scratchy. Our next room was worse! The tub and sink were chipped, there was nowhere to hang a towel save in the shower (defeating the purpose) and again, the linens were sub-par. The promised "continental breakfast" was, in fact, coffee. The staff ARE very friendly and the location IS great but, even at their lower prices - I don't think it was worth it.
