This hotel is an old building though its nicely renovated. Near to the city of tampa and good views of the beach. Our room was clean and comfortable.
There is one restaurant and one bar in the hotel who both offer live music. This is for sure a problem because they start playing the music at ten und end up by one or two on the weekend and you hear everything in your room.
I would return there

Room Tip: You should have a good sleep or have a room far from the restaurant...

We stayed on the 4th floor of the Shell Building and had a great view of the Gulf and of the beach. There was a display of 10 sand sculptures from our window and they were an easy walk from our room. The beach is among the cleanest beaches we've seen. The only down side was that there is not a balcony but this is overcome by the fact that the window in the room slides open and you have a clear view of everything. Sloppy Joe's is next door and they have a great sloppy Joe sandwich and a bar (in and out). A drive up and down the Gulf Blvd convinced me that the Bilmar is at the best location based on walking distance to food, stores and beach. There is a Walgreen's directly across the street. The staff at the hotel were very cooperative. The parking lot is staffed to keep non-hotel parkers out. The room we had was clean and the housekeeping staff was friendly. We have a hard time coming up with any negatives for this stay.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 4th floor of the Shell building and we decided it was the best of the rooms in t...

I wish to recommend the Bilmar Hotel at Treasure Island. My wife and I stayed there for four days and we were very impressed with the service. The hotel is also very well maintained. There are two restaurants on property that are excellent and moderately priced.

I arrived at the Bilmar Beach Resort on Oct 8-11, 2012. It is a very nice hotel and the room was really nice with a full kitchen and breakfast bar that is granite and there is crown moulding in the room. Beds were very comfortable and very clean. The room I had overlooked a courtyard and there is a pool there, but I was able to spend some time after the beach reading in the courtyard and it was shady then, I really enjoyed that, as I love being outside instead of being in the room. They have 2 pools there and 2 restaurants, I only checked out the one by my pool. I thought the prices were fair but the alcoholic drinks were a bit pricey - $5 for a little plastic glass of wine. The beach is nice but you have to walk a distance to get to the waters edge. They do have hotel rooms overlooking the gulf but I think I like the courtyard better. They have free wifi and if you get deals on the hotel they are well worth it.

Room Tip: I don't think it really matters, I liked the courtyard since I could look out at the pool and th...

Booked this hotel on Bilmar website to stay a couple of nights while celebrating my husbands 50th birthday. When we went to check-in the clerk couldn't find our booking for the first night, even though we had paperwork confirming it. We had booked a gulf front efficiency which had a balcony and overlooking the beach and gulf. He was very apologetic and upraded us to a penthouse suite. We went to the room which was on the 7th floor of a separate building above Sloppy Joe's. Wow! the room was fab. It had a king bed and a living area, a kitchen with dining area and large bathroom, 2 wardrobes and two showers. There were 2 windows on the side and 2 patio doors onto the balcony which had wonderful views over the beach. We sat on the balcony on our 1st morning and saw dolphins playing in the sea. Breathtaking. Also the sunsets are spectacular. Although we did not use the hotel facilities they looked spotless and the pool we could see was regularly cleaned. We had lunch at Sloppy Joe's and sat in there for early evening drinks. Quite a busy restaurant and food very good. The reception staff in hotel were very courteous and helpful. Didn't eat at hotel restaurant. Restaurants visited during our stay were Ricky T's across the road. Quite handy and food was good. Live music and open till late. Also went to Foxy's around on 107th. Again good food and reasonable prices. Publix supermarket just across road, so handy for snacks and milk etc. Only about a mile from John's Pass which has been refurbised over the years and nice to walk around. I love this area and would definately stay at the Bilmar again, wish we'd stayed longer. Highly recommended

Room Tip: Our upgraded room was wonderful. Room 747.

My family and I were looking for a place on the beach to stay while we visited family in St. Pete. The Bilmar was an excellent choice! We also liked how it was "Bill Maher's" hotel! :) Not really, but liked the play on the name. The price was a major factor in booking, it was a great value for direct gulf front, although it was also off season. The pictures online looked good and all the Trip Advisor reviews were positive so we thought we'd give it a try. Rooms were very nice and clean, although the bathroom was small, that was the only drawback. Being that we had 4 of us in the room, a little tight at times. But Sloppy Joe's downstairs turned out to be a big bonus. It became our "living room" and gathering spot with our local family and we ended up eating there every day (sometimes more than once!) and also having drinks there. Food was good and atmosphere out on the deck, great. Location was convenient as well with a great pizza place across the street and ice cream. Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Definitely gulf front with the balcony. Although we were over Sloppy Joe's restaurant which kind...
