There are numerous "good" restaurants in Venice, but this is without a doubt the best restaurant in town. The staff are friendly, professional and very knowledgeable, from the bartender to the waiters/waitresses; the restaurant itself is also very warm and welcoming, with a very nice atmosphere. Chef Ed and his wife Ali have done a wonderful job with their menu selection and great attention to detail. I have had the pleasure to eat at this restaurant on numerous occasions, and have had a variety of dishes - one is better than the other, and the portions are very generous. Their specials are also undeniably great. With only a few more weeks left of being a "snow bird", I look forward to visiting this restaurant several more times before I depart. Keep up your excellent standard of service and food quality!

As regular guests we have had many happy experiences at Back Eddy. Last night we enjoyed what is undoubtedly the very best corned beef & cabbage ever. After having tried this St. Patrick's Day tradition, Back Eddy's style, last year, we returned with friends for another round. If you have not yet tried this lovely little bistro....put it on your list.

This small restaurant in downtown old Venice is a new favourite, from the bar area to the restaurant. The service is good and the food has been terrific. The menu includes several fine dining items but also offers a wonderful burger and an exceptional beet salad at more modest prices. It has been quite busy whenever we have been there so I would recommend reservations unless you are willing to sit at the bar, which is also just fine.

We dropped in on a Saturday night to discover the restaurant was completely booked (as most decent places are in Venice this time of year). Since we liked the looks of the dining room and menu we decided to make a reservation for Sunday.

When we came back the next evening there was a mixup as the person we spoke to on Saturday apparently didn't "book" the table. After a few minutes of reviewing the reservations, the hostess/bartender figured out a way for us to get a table anyway.

I wanted to make sure they didn't need to turn it quickly and was assured that it was ours for as long as we wanted.

Wine choices by the glass were excellent, the service was excellent, and the pour was very generous.

I opted for rack of lamb and was pleasantly surprised to see six chops on the plate. The norm seems to be four most places we go to. The lamb was cooked exactly as ordered and the sauce made for a great flavor combination.

My wife chose shrimp curry and said it was delicious. Apparently six is the magic number here as she enjoyed six grilled jumbo shrimp atop a flavorful jasmine rice and coconut curry sauce.

One thing we particularly enjoyed was that the dining room noise level was very low and conversation was easy. Also, the bartender and server were both great - personable, knowledgeable, and eager to make sure everything was perfect.

This restaurant is not on Venice Ave. which is the main street through town and I think that works to its advantage. It's not lost among the many Italian places (it is "Venice" after all) and the atmosphere was actually more pleasant.

Back Eddy Bistro is a real find. We'll definitely go back the next time we're in town.

Back Eddy Bistro is a small, inviting, quiet restaurant with a nice decor, comfortable seating, and excellent service. We had the fish specials and they were delicious and creatively prepared. Our entries included flounder, triple tail, and swordfish and all were cooked perfectly. Warm ciabatta bread was served and the salads were large and suitable for sharing. Anchovies are an option with the Caesar salad. We also had the sweet potato pancake with lox appetizer which was excellent as well. For dessert we had the vanilla bean cheesecake and the home made vanilla orange ice cream. They were good but not up to the creative level of the other courses. TIPS: 1) Consider skipping dessert and enjoying one or more of the interesting appetizers. 2) When you make your reservation ask to not be seated at the table in the back of the room near the restroom.
