Great little walk up restaurant! Best $14 we have spent. Good chili dogs and onion rings were awesome. Be for warned - CASH only.

Been going here on and off since the 1980's and the only thing that's changed are the stores near this place on Tamiami Trail. On a hot, thirsty day a great place to get an ice-cold root beer. Have never eaten there or gone for the bar offerings, but the Mug seems to stay busy. Staff are ultra friendly, and the locals are often eager to swap lies or stories.

This is a Old Style walk up counter type Eatting Place. Sit on the bar chairs, get a cold draft and enjoy the sites The Grouper is more than enought for one and a half, maybe two. If you hungry its all yours. The price will give you change, and walking away happy. Don't walk to far, your just in off US 41. .

This is a must-stop for travelers through Venice on 41. Best seating is outdoors, either at the open air bar or at a cement patio table. Hot dogs taste great on a hot day with either a beer or a root beer (free refills on the root beer). Ladies taking care of us were super friendly, energetic and quick. We've been there three times in March 2014 and had the hot dog, hamburger, chili fries, grilled chicken salad. My complaints would be the quality on the buns (on the verge of stale), and the parking lot is awkward to exit (you've got to drive to the rear to turn around, and there was the cook setting on a milk crate having a smoke looking - well, dirty). It's unique and worth a stop, don't expect a gourmet meal, but it's cute and very beach-like, but not near a beach. Lunch for 4 with no beers (root beers and water) was $26 with tip, so very reasonable.

Even though we have lived in Venice for nine years, we had not been to the Frosted Mug. We will return based on our first visit. Service was excellent from the friendly staff. This is a good place to have lunch with a menu that's a throwback to earlier days in Florida. This was the first restaurant built in Venice on the Tamiami Trail. Had burgers but think the chili dogs will be our next choice.
