My mother and I decided to try the new French Bistro that opened in late September and were pleasantly surprised to see new tables, chairs, artwork and paint that dressed up the previously faded restaurant. The services was excellent and the waiter ran up and down the stairs with water, wine and dishes from the kitchen. I had a buckwheat crepe with grilled vegetables and side salad, and mom had the crocke monsieur sandwich with salad and we both agreed that the flavor of each was well above average. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for new food in the Venice area. Bon appetite!

Since I have enjoyed meals at 62 Bistro in Sarasota, and Paris Bistro in Lakewood Ranch (Bradenton), Florida, I knew we couldn't go wrong with lunch at the new Le Petit Bistro in Venice. And I was right!
This cozy bistro has 2 floors - reminded me of the Mouton Noir in Paris (check out that heavenly experience on TripAdvisor). We choose to be upstairs and were pleased with the decor - paintings and posters reminding us we were in a French restaurant.
The server was prompt with the menus and took our drink order - tres rapide!
The new owner came by to chat and told us that one of the pictures on the wall was a famous ancestor. He expressed his excitement in opening in Venice and the success that he was already experiencing - which was evidenced as the rooms filled up.
I started with onion soup. I like mine with an intense onion flavor and lots of onion, just a bit of crusty bread and cheese. This was pretty close.
One of our party has Celiac Disease - can't have gluten which is in bread etc. After she advised the waiter, he was most courteous in checking on the various dishes to make sure she would not be adversely affected, running up and down the stairs to check with the cook on items he wasn't sure of.
Our afflicted guest has a breakfast of eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes. Looked great.
The other member of our group had a salad Nicoise - which comes as a hearty meal - salad, tomatoes, rice, tuna, artichokes, green bell peppers, anchovies, hard boiled eggs, onions, and olives (fantastic for about $8!).
And i had the Parisian - ham and cheese on a baguette which is also accompanied by a side salad with a French vinaigrette. Most delightful.
Then, even though we were pretty well filled up, we insisted on having dessert crepes - but only because we knew they were so good from our past meals at the other two restaurants.
I had the jam crepe which is a simple light crepe with a fruit jam. Delicious!
And also at the table was a profiterole - crepe, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream - yikes - what a way to diet disaster!
Well, a very enjoyable and satisfying meal. Glad we made the trip!
