“A Great Show At Sunset”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

The Venice Audubon sits next to the Venice Rookery, which the Audubon Society oversees. The trees are covered with nests from big birds you can't miss and it's interesting to watch them. But the big show is at sunset when hundreds of birds come in to roost for the evening. Venice Audubon volunteers are often on site where they set up a telescope so you can be "up close and personal" with the birds. This is a great take!

“Very boring”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

I had never been bird watching before so didn't really know what to expect. Overall, just found it to be really boring. If someone is really into bird watching though I would think it would be a good experience, it just wasn't for me.

“Don't miss this”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

Coolest birding place I've ever seen. Amazing to see the birds making nests and feeding their babies. There was even a pretty big alligator by the pond which was a little scary.

“Binoculars required”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

Great opportunity to see and watch Florida birds like Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Anhingas, Snowy Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Glossy Ibises, Green Herons, Tricolored Herons and Black-crowned Night-Herons. Watch for alligators!!!
Free access from dawn to dusk. Bring binoculars to watch nesting and fish hunting.
Interesting attraction, so close to US 41.

“Birders Paradise”
Reviewed 17 May 2013

If you love birds and photography, there are not many places that compare to the number of birds, their activity and antics. They have a little island where they build nests and raise their young. They fly back and forth to bring in nest building material and they just land right near you sometimes. It is best to come early--right after sunrise to be in the best position for photography but if you are just there to enjoy, most anytime of day will probably do. It is located about one block off Hwy 41 behind government buildings.
