“All is well, apart from the location!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

My wife and I stayed for only one night, we booked because of a DeVere promotion at a very cheap price.
As said, the rooms are fairly small and the bathrooms also, a small criticism here is the shower which is adequate at best. However the standard of cleanliness was good and the beds (we had twins) very comfy.
The grounds are superb, it must be a lovely place for a wedding!
We did not have dinner, however the menu and prices seemed reasonable and quite a few people were dining.
We had room 58 which is situated in the "Barn" and we had no problems with noise, door banging etc as previous comments state.
The breakfast was superb, really good quality food well cooked and plentiful.......lovely sausages!
All staff we encountered were friendly and efficient.
If you're a smoker there is a nice smoking area just outside the bar with seats and a great view of the gardens.
Our only downside was the location of the Hotel as there is nothing worth seeing for miles around apart from the Universal Studios .

Room Tip: Ask for a "Barn" room

Thank you for your review and i am delighted you had a good stay with us, I am especially pleased you enjoyed breakfast and in particular the sausages, these are made to the recipe of our Group Executive Head Chef, John Woodward and I also agree they are very good.
In terms of our location we are nestled within the M25 so there is a bit to do such as visit the Historic City of St Albans or venture into Central Watford for some retail therapy, both easily accessed either via bus or car. We also have 3 public houses within a 10 minute walk and wonderful canal walks within easy reach as well.
I am sorry the location did not suit you but really glad you enjoyed your stay all the same.
Kind regards

Pete

This room is not in the main building and I regret staying there when the hotel seemed to be hosting a door banging competition. This together with the fact if your alarm does not go off do not panic! you will hear next doors together with their conversation. To add to the promise a good nights sleep the toilet took for ever to fill up and did a good impression of the chinese water torture treatment. Apart from that and the numerous pot holes in the road leading tto the hotel all was well.

Room Tip: Dont accept one in the new building

Thank you for your review. We are now in the process of replacing all of the door closures in the building to alleviate this noise issue. We have also resolved the issue with regards to the toilet cistern.

I am sorry you did not fully enjoy your stay with us but i do hope you will return now we have fixed the issue with the bedroom.

Kind regards

We stayed for two nights and found the hotel comfortable, good value (promotional price £29), with good food and beautiful grounds. The room was not huge but perfectly adequate and well equipped and clean. It overlooked the rose garden(45).
The lounge was comfy with free coffee and newspapers. Apart from a bit of a muddle with the receptionist booking in all the staff were friendly and efficient. We would definitely stay again.

Very close to the Harry Potter studio tour , which was the main reason for booking, a very nice clean hotel with friendly staff and a great bar menu which really suited the kids aged 14-18, free coffee and hit chocolate which went down very well as did the free Wifi , great choice would recommend to anyone

We found ourselves at this hotel courtesy of a Warner Bros studio tour and Afternoon tea voucher. We were in high spirits following the studio tour and more than ready for our tea. First impressions were good. The public areas (that we ventured into, Reception, Bar, Restaurant) were all clean well presented and welcoming. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We were directed to the bar area to have a drink as we were early for our tea where we enjoyed a drink. We did have to wait quite a while and around 20 minutes or so after our pre booked time we did notify the lady tending the bar. Who very quickly and professionally seated us in the restaurant after apologising. What followed next was an absolute delight! I am not sure whether the normal portions for an afternoon tea for two were followed but both the quantity and quality was superb, as was the attentiveness of the staff. We really enjoyed our time at Hunton Park and if in the area would definitely consider staying.

This hotel is well placed for an overnight stay before visiting Harry Potter studios.
It has a good car park.
Food quality is quite good, drinks on the pricey side. Service helpful and polite.
Having said this the big let down was the room.
I wasn't entirely sure the toilet had been properly cleaned. The coat hook on the back of the bathroom door had been ripped off and the tiles looked decidedly mouldy.
If one wishes to use a hairdryer there is no plug socket next to a mirror(awkward). With the bed pushed up against the wall that leaves the person on the inside the job of climbing over to get out.
Potentially a good hotel sadly let down by the rooms.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review, I am sorry you feel let down by the room size, indeed all of the room are of the same size and compact due to the original purpose of the venue being a wedding and conference centre; however, thank you for the feedback on the mirror and hook which have now been rectified.
Kind regards
