This is a typical old Florida motel. You don't stay here because of the hotel amenities, you stay here because it's inexpensive, clean and close to some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. It's close to shopping, the groves, some great restaurants like Captain Hiram's and Ozzies. We stay there every year for several days for a latitude and attitude adjustment on our way further south. If you're looking for a Hampton, there's one down the road.

My husband, a former US Marine, was stationed at the Vero Beach airfield briefly, during WW11. However, it was long enough for him to fall in love with the Driftwood(yes it was here!) and also with the beach. Fifty years later we spent our second honeymoon here. The collection of "stuff" begun by Waldo and incorporated in the decor, has intrigued me over the years. I found our suite to be comfortable and clean, the kitchen was completely equipped. I was actually able to cook and serve dinner to friends from nearby condos. We found the dinners at the restaurant to be well done with ample portions and friends actually had a "two fer" coupon one evening. There are restaurants for family dining within a reasonable distance. There are also excellent parks for play and picnic facilities nearby. Try shopping at the supermarkets for easy take out food. Publix is great for this. Having read other reviews, I think it may depend what area of the country you are from when you're making a judgement However, when you are from the Northeast, the prices seem reasonable. My cousin who joined us from Denver, CO last year loved his suite complete with two bathrooms, family room with hot tub and bedroom.

We just came back from the Driftwood Inn Resort and must say we were disappointed. The rustic decor is lost by the unkept condition of the resort. The unique chandelier in building A could have used a cleaning. The large cob webs were a complete turnoff, only to proceed into a filthy elevator. Our studio was clean but an attempt to seperate the bedroom from the living room left the sleeping area so cramped that one person had to crawl over the other person to get out of bed. The view from the balcony was beautiful and the two chairs provided was a nice idea however a little larger in the seat department would have rendered them much more comfortable.

I discovered the Driftwood Inn thru friends of mine that live in Vero Beach. My family and I have stay here every time we come to Vero. We love the Driftwood. The staff is very friendly. They take care of all our needs. Waldos is great. The outdoor oceanfront dining is a nice change from the cold north. The rooms are very unique. The rooms in the original building are the best. Especially the two story rooms with the spiral staircase. We had an excellent view of the ocean and we will be back next year.

I have visited this resort three times, I enjoyed it very much. It is old, but has "ambiance",

The pool is very nice, and enjoyed afternoons around the pool visiting with other guests. Many have been coming there for many years. Didn't try the restaurant, it seemed pretty pricy;, but loved sitting inthe rocking chair on the deck enjoying the ocean.

The Studio apt. was very clean, only had a micro and a frig, but was fine for my needs.

Will love to revisit this resort.

We were looking forward to our impending stay at the Driftwood Inn, and was heartened by the couple of good reviews that were posted here. As long as it took to walk in the door of the unit is how long it took for that to wear off. We had an oceanfront unit in The Breakers section of the resort. This was supposed to be the "new" part of the place but, the only thing new was the cockroaches in the unit. Yes, it had bugs!!
But, management was very thoughtful and supplied a can of Raid in the "kitchen" cabinet. (I use quotation marks for kitchen because even though the unit was billed as having one it was merely a convenience kitchen)This place had definite maintenance issues, inside and out.
From the furnishings to the cleanliness of the place. The bathroom was disgusting, somewhere along the line someone decided to spruce up the place by painting the tub and surrounding enclosure. I can verify that the idea went very wrong. The beach itself was very nice but, as far as the surrounding area goes there was really not much to do. I have a 13 and 10 year old and it was a challenge keeping them engaged.
Restaurants in the immediate area were typically geared more toward fine dining and were very expensive. We had to go up and down US 1 to get family fare type of dining. As fare as we are concerned The Driftwood Inn and Vero Beach are a mistake that will not be repeated.

We have been owners of a unit at the Driftwood for five years. Every visit has been remarkable. We would recommend the facility highly!
Right on the beach. Good food also at Waldo's. (On prem. rest)
