For those as us , coming from Italy and having the privilege to discover a place unique as Welaka ,is just an eperience that we will never forget . We got the cottage nr 19 facing the river, a two bedroom accomodation that is perfectly furnished to offer the guests a pleasant stay. The veranda is fully furnished with jacuzzi and anything for barbeque , squirrels will be your only company. From here you can enjoy the sunsets that in this place are simply outstanding. Of course another good option will be at the bar sipping a good cold drink , carefully serviced you by the lady . Welaka is a place out if time , and where time has little value, I think most people do come here to plug off, or of course fishing in St.John's river.
Kevin the owner is a lovely person and his speaks are always relevant and accurated Try to ask him to take you to a boat trip , you will love his introductions to the wildlife of this area .
Welaka is simply unforgettable ,a place for the soul, peace on earth

Just spent a wonderful 3 day weekend there for our 2 year anniversary. We stayed in #24 with our 2 dogs. This cabin was not only spotless but beautifully appointed as well. Fiesta Ware plates and oversized thick fluffy towels were just a few of the nice little touches here. The two person hot tub on the back porch was pretty private and the perfect temperature. We also used the gas grill a few times- it was unbelievably clean!!! I almost felt guilty using it.

This place is heaven if you want to get away to some place quiet. Enjoyed the pool and the riverside bar; walked to Shrimps R Us for some great steamed shrimp and the best hush puppies we have ever had. We also went to the local BBQ place which was also excellent.

The people who work here were all exceptionally friendly. They loved our dogs Jake and Elwood as well and really made us all feel like we were "home". We absolutely loved it and plan to go back for a week in October!

To start we had to arrive late because of the travelling distance contacted the lodge and they made sure i knew exactly where to go and what to expect. Entered and found a beautiful cottage all set up to perfection and everthing supplied even the coffee filters and the hot tub was nice an hot. We stayed in Cottage 24 pets are also allowed in this cottage. Great place to relax wake up go fishing in the morning then relax by the pool during the day and several flea markets within an hours drive. They also have a Bar with food on the dock open on weekend with a great view. Small Rustic and Fantastic location with a helpfull staff and great hosts.
Already planning a return trip.

Room Tip: they also have cottages for family .... all the cottages are close to everything on the property

My husband and I were looking for a "getaway" from all the daily life things. We stayed in Cottages #23 (perfect) and #21...they are totally equipped for anything imaginable. We sat in a hot tub at night and looked at the peaceful quiet scenery. Definetly going back again, again, and again :)

I stayed in one of the cottages in this small resort. It was fantastic. Absolutely first rate. I saw the other cottages as they were offered to me since they were not rented that weekend. They were all so beautiful inside.
It was a rainy weekend and I still had a wonderful stay. The pool area is beautiful with flowers all around, lovely trees and a short walk to the river's edge you can see a lovely view and water birds come right up to you. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have a small lot almost facing St John's River (ten minutes form WL&R). We go every couple of years to check on it! but we have always have stayed in Deland. This year I found WL&R! Amazing, we stayed in cottage #23. Clean, confortable with all the amenities of a home. We got some what lost and Jessica was terrific in getting us to the property! The view is fantastic, the bar is great so is Ian.

The property has such a good feeling, relax, non pretentious. So close to Miami and yet so different! Different in a wonderful way!

Great shower, great bed!Amazing sunset~

Jessica is welcoming, friendly and terrific~

We will be back! WL&R got under our skin~
