“Average food, typical of a chain”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 September 2013

We went while Hache peppers were in season so most of their specials contained this spicy pepper. I had the Hache Carnitas tacos which were ok. Tons of the peppers, almost overwhelming. My wife had a taco and empenada which was bland. Good chips and salsa.

“Our favorite TexMex in West Palm Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2013

This may say more about the TexMex options in town, but we are transplanted Texans and love TexMex. We eat here frequently. The prices are good and the food is good. With TexMex, the sauces are the key and theirs are spot on.

“Terrific Happy Hour”

We stopped in and took advantage of the happy hour specials. Everything was delicious and the price was more than reasonable. Our server was very professional and we left this happy hour smiling.

“Fantastic food, nice ambience, finally on track after stumbling opening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2013

We have often appreciated "On the Border" in various locations in the US. We think that among US chains serving Mexican food, this is by far the best, and even beats most "authentic" Mexican restaurants. So we were delighted when around 2010, one of their restaurants opened nearby. Well, the excitement was short-lived, since various things were just "wrong" at that time - food tasted bland and just different from other restaurants of their chain, there were long waits and unprofessional servers. So we concluded that this "On the Border" location was different from the various others that we knew, and we didn't come back.

This evening we were really longing for Mexican, and since the selection about this food is pretty meager around here compared to other parts of the US, we decided to go there again, prepared for another disappointment.

But wow, how things have changed! It started off with probably the best Guacamole I ever had - their Guacamole live is prepared on the table, and this one came out just perfect. Then the two main dishes my wife and I had were just very delicious from every angle; very clever seasoning, everything fresh, and not as greasy as other Mexican stuff that comes your way. Particularly noteworthy was the Chile Relleno, a true favorite of mine, that is however just wipped out of the freezer in 95% of cases. Here it was freshly made, with only a touch of breading around, and somewhat light on the cheese so that the flavor of the chile wasn't lost - just delicious! I also enjoyed their fish tacos, and my wife liked another of their taco dishes, the name escapes me now. Even little things like the tortillas are just great now.

We were so happy to see this transformation that our waiter brought the general manager to our table, and he gave us a history of the very poorly run earlier version of this place, that only now really lives up to normal "On the Border" standards. We are looking forward to coming back, and so should you if your experience wasn't stellar earlier. If you have never gone, make sure you do! Reasonably priced, great tasking, and healthy (as far as that's possible with Mexican). Make sure you go!

“A ggod meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2013

We enjoyed a simple Mexican meal there. Our server Oscar was very nice. They serve beer in huge round glasses made in Mexico, pretty heavy to lift for women. Food was ok. We sat on the deck outside and we were the only ones outside on a nice breezy afternoon. Nothing out of this world but fine for a quick meal on the road.
