Reviews are great aren't they? They allow us, the consumer, to give an accurate and fair opinion about our experience using a product or service. It also allows us to warn others before coming to such establishment, what to expect from our point of view. We were guests at Vacation Village on our parents timeshare club. Weston is a GREAT location. 20 mins from beaches, Ft. Lauderdale and plenty of surrounding attractions.

Vacation Village was a bit hard to find since we arrived at night. The whole strip is full of resort condos so make sure you know where you're going. I knew something was fishy once we arrived and the check in person handed us off to a "vip rep" to give us our parking pass for the property. We were told they wanted to give us "complimentary" breakfast for $20. (how is that complimentary?) Anyway, in exchange for taking a survey and viewing a model we would get a gift card which would make up for the difference. We took it, seeing that we wouldn't mind the free gift and breakfast. The pitch wasn't horrible and the guy who took us around was friendly and no pressure. However we did spend a total of 3 hours with him, so we kind of felt held hostage.

As for the rest of Vacation Village, the room was nice, great view of sunsets. We had a B unit with a small corner balcony. TV was weak sauce. Our television was a tube television from 1990. We bought a frozen pizza to cook too, but come to find out our unit had no stove! The pool was the nicest part of the resort and was large enough for kids and adults to keep a distance. Hot tub was nice too. Overall, the crowd was mostly 50+ so if you're wanting a younger scene, its not here. But if you want a relaxing, peace and quiet trip like we did. It was PERFECT. Despite the average rating, I would return to Vacation Village and I would recommend them to others as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are disappointed that we didn’t meet all of your expectations but are thankful that overall you enjoyed your stay and would return. We regret that the breakfast survey program wasn’t what you were expecting. Many guests do participate and learn about the benefits of our vacation ownership program and return to stay with us again as owners. We are constantly undergoing renovation and refurbishment projects at the resort. This year we are continuing to purchase more new flat panel televisions, mattresses and box springs, new appliance packages as needed, and area rugs for some of the units. Our B units feature a partial kitchen without a stove. If you return to the resort (and we sincerely hope you do.) we recommend that you reserve our A unit, which features full kitchen amenities along with a Jacuzzi Tub, living room, and dining area. Again thank you for taking the time to share and we hope we may have another chance to exceed your lodging expectations the next time you are in Weston.

Just came back from a week at Weston Village. Was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews.

Had an A unit in the Ibis building, facing the pool. Was a pleasant setting. Room was simply but adequately furnished, with good quantity of plates, utensils etc and flat screen TV's (they seem to be updating old TV's in other rooms while we were there). Room was clean. We gave our young kids the bedroom to get them to sleep earlier (bed was very soft - a bit soft for folks with bad backs). Surprisingly, the sofa bed was reasonably comfortable.

Had an easy check in (we arrived late in the day). When I mentioned that it was late and that we hadn't had dinner yet they skipped the sign up for the sales pitch completely (much appreciated!).

We did have an issue with the toilet being blocked upon first use. While it is not a pleasant issue to have to deal with I was impressed at how quickly staff responded to our call and they satisfactorily resolved the problem. I think this reassured me that they were taking care of folks and that we would have a good stay.

With young kids, the Weston pool was great. While there were quite a few people hanging around the pool all day it was generally snowbirds who were in and out of the pool relatively quickly, so it didn't feel too crowded. My kids loved having a lot of space in the pool to themselves. We spent a couple of days there just hanging out.

Other activities nearby - Science/discovery centre and IMAX in Fort Lauderdale was great on a weekday. Went to the John Pennekamp State park (great glass bottom boat trip over coral reef, kayaking etc) and spent a couple of days at the beach (John U Lloyd state park was good - quiet, except for being near the airport flight path).

Overall, a very good, relaxing trip. Would go back to this resort again. Felt we got a good exchange price for a reasonable resort with pleasant staff, activities and a good pool.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view (Ibis building is good)

Thank you for your recommendation. We’re happy to know that you were pleasantly surprised by our resort and services while on vacation. Unfortunately no one resort can be everything to everyone, but we do try to make all of our guests happy here at Vacation Village at Weston. Most of the time we’re quite successful and our guests return to vacation with us again and again. We just returned from a week at Vacation Village at Weston. We travel quite often so we are generally hard to impress.
First of all, we exchanged as a Gold Crown RCI exchange. We knew about the $25 resort fee going in, so was not a surprise. We checked in with no issues and our room was ready an hour early. Once we told them we were owners of the Vacation Village family of resorts the timeshare ploy was pretty light. Our room was not what I expect from a Gold Crown resort. We had the A unit of the A and B labeled units. It did however, have a NICE flat screen in the living room, Jacuzzi, balcony and very comfortable bed and pillows. There was no washer and dryer, which is a big bummer especially when the airlines are charging so much for baggage, limiting what we take. The unit was spacious and well stocked with dishes, glasses, etc. The furnishings and furniture were pretty drab though, wall paper boarders, that kind of thing. I am guessing a small investment in some pictures/wall decor that actually match or a couch cover for what might be the ugliest couch I have ever seen; will ensure they keep the Gold Crown status that is hanging on by a thread. We had a half nice view, half our view was the nice fountain and grounds, the other half was the very busy road in front of the resort. Our mid-week cleaning was very good and they did a great job. The pool area is beautiful, but very very busy as other reviewers have mentioned. I went down twice and could not believe the sea of people who had parked themselves there for the duration. Good thing we were busy most days, and we didn't have the kids. However, the pool is open until 11pm, so if you don't want the crowds, go for a night swim. The gym is small, has 1 or 2 of everything but was not busy and a nice tv in there as well. The location is nice and close to 3 airports. Overall, the resort is fine, not impressive but fine.

We are platinum members with rci. We've stayed at vacation village PARKWAY a few times. We actually booked vacation village weston by mistake ( thought we were booking the Orlando resort). Upon arrival at the registration the gentleman at the desk commented on our high status with rci. He gave us a b unit at heron II. It was a nightmare. First we couldn't get in the room because our card key didn't work. We Called and they sent someone fairly quickly. He let us in our unit, took our keys and told us he needed to reprogram them. He left and we waited and waited. We couldn't leave because we had no keys to get back into our unit. We were hungry so we ordered pizza from papa johns. They said it would take 45 minutes to deliver the food. Papa johns came, we ate our food and still the guy did not return with our room keys. We called again and finally someone came. The room we had was crappy. We felt like we were living in Red Cross housing. One lousy window in the bedroom. The furniture looked like it was from 1960. There was no stove. We found an electric cooktop in one of the cabinets. What a piece of crap. Room was very poorly lit. The unit was downright depressing. Pool was fine. That was the only decent thing at the resort. Day two we got woken up at 10:30 at night by a phone call from the front desk. Seems the people checking into unit a couldn't get into the outside doors of the unit and the resort wanted us to get up and let them in the outside door. Seriously? Next day, and everyday thereafter the outside door to the a and b units did not work. First they left the deadbolt on so the door wouldn't close all the way. Next day they removed the entire door lock, handle and everything. Next day a new or refurbished door handle and look. Too bad it didn't work. So every time we went back to our unit we had to call someone to let us in the front outside door. There was very low pressure in the bathroom shower. The vanity in the bathroom was extremely low (came up to middle thigh) and no this was not a handicapped room. The toilet mysteriously flushed all by itself a couple of times every night. The bed and pillows were horrible. I've had a better night sleep while camping in a tent with my kids. Shame on you vacation village weston for touting this to be a silver star resort. Shame on you rci for offering this sub-class resort. We will never ever stay at this resort again.

Room Tip: Don't allow them to put you in a B unit.

I like this resort. They setup a great vacation spot in a quiet location. Nice waterfall pool. The rooms are big and up to date. They offer a theme everyday apartheid pool everyday. Wether, it is free hotdogs or free hamburgers or ever milkshakes. They run multiple excursions from the main building..

We booked at this "resort" because of the pool and because the rooms looked decent. Be aware that many of the buildings are more than a mile from that nice pool. Our room was in an old, rundown building nowhere near the amenities shown prominently on their website. Our room was a one bedroom and completely depressing. The only natural light was from the window in the bedroom, which you had to keep closed if you wanted any privacy from the adjacent building.
But it got worse. I have never been in a hotel where the bed linens were so filthy. I had to call up for new ones and 5 sets of sheets later, I found some that didn't have either stains or holes (I have posted pictures). The pillows were even worse -- lumpy because all the filling had completely broken down. The front desk told me all their pillows were the same.
In the pack of information they give you at check in, they request that before you post a "less than 5 star review" you talk to a manager. I waited for 45 minutes until I could speak to him (there were quite a few others with issues to report that morning.) I showed him the pictures, he agreed it was bad, said he would take care of it while we were out for the day, and then he did nothing.
We exchanged our RCI Gold Crown for this dump, so I called them to see if they could help. They couldn't get anywhere with them either.
I've never been happier to go home after a vacation. Simply the worst place I've every stayed.

Having stayed in a Vacation Village property in Kissimmee, FL before, I was expecting the same quality in Weston, also partially based on the RCI website pictures. First impression: update of one-bedroom unit is essential to improve the appearance of quality, now lacking. Second, but cannot be corrected so easily: the only window in the unit is in the bedroom; thus, the kitchen/living-room area feels like a cell on cell block. (I admit I have never been in a real cell.) I also missed a balcony, but that goes hand in hand with the fact that the only window is in the bedroom. Also, most of the personnel we encountered spoke very poor English. The biggest problem: we were advised by flyer under the door that the water would be closed off on Wednesday from 5 pm to 10 am (the following day). I called the desk to ask if this could be correct. This was confirmed with a story that it was due to the City of Weston. 10 am on Wednesday my husband steps into the shower: NO WATER! I called the front desk again and was told that they were sorry but it was an error in the flyer. This was not correct by a second flyer, I should add. All in all, I would not recommend this property.

Room Tip: Do not accept the B Unit, as it has not windows in the living-room. It also has no balcony. Kitchen...
