“Fantastic inn - Grand Bay”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

We stayed four nights and the Zandoli, and we're fortunate enough to get a nice room at the top with beautiful ocean view. Rooms are straight forward but charming; wardrobe, king size bed, desk, and a terrace with two chairs. Only thing we might miss was AC, the idea of sleeping with windows open and bugs screaming is nice but think we would have used it if available. Throughout the Zandoli is clean and very well kept. The hosts Jen and Linda were very welcoming, helpful and generous. Jen knows here cooking, and use fresh local ingredients like fish, lobster, herbs, vegetables . Choice of wine is limited and the cooking would have deserved more, but this is an inn so reckon that is a fair priority. Food was very good, and could easily have passed at twice the price somewhere else in the Caribbean. A major point for us choosing Zandoli was the fact that you can swim in the ocean, unlike places further east were currents and waves makes it impossible. A few stairs brings you to the water, no sandy beach but huge rocks were you can lay down, dive off them or snorkel along. We only stayed down there one day as we were hiking etc, but could easily been hanging out on the rocks a few more days. For two pax we paid USD 1500, for accommodation, beer, rum, wine, dinner and breakfast every day and one lunch, and maybe some more:) great bang for buck! Zandoli is a laid back all inclusive with atmosphere and great food, without the fancy bed covers and price tag. If you are going to Dominica and west/ south coast is your destination look no further!

Room Tip: Rooms facing west towards the bay

Wonderful 5 room inn where we felt very welcome. Our hosts Linda and Jen were great and made us feel very comfortable as soon as we got there. Jen is an AMAZING cook and we had gourmet meals every evening we were there. (4) Our room had the most incredible views and felt very Mediterrean ..felt like we were in Greece. We did not have a car, but Linda and Jen helped us navigate ways to get around. A car is definitely easier, but we were fine and also enjoyed sitting by their small pool and exploring the beautiful grounds. We walked a short distance to the beach to snorkel and were able to get in the water without too much trouble. The snorkeling area on their property seemed a bit too adventurous for us. If you are looking for a beautiful, low key place in Dominica ..I highly recommend Zandoli

If you are visiting the beautiful island of Dominca the Zandoli Inn should not be missed.

We stayed in Feburary for four nights (far too short) and had a fantastic time. Jen and Linda were wonderful hosts and made us feel completely at home. Our room was bright and spacious with glorious views and the food was delicious. The gardens were delightful to laze around in and there's also lots to explore on the island. Jen and Linda can advise on where to go arrange car hire, trips etc

We rarely return to previous holiday destinations as there are so many different places to see but will be making an exception to this and will be returning to both Dominca and the Zandoli. Can't wait!

This was my second visit to Dominica, where I previously stayed at Zandoli. I had no hesitation in choosing, again, to visit this wonderful hotel in the Grand Bay area of the island. From the moment I arrived, and having been greeted so warmly by Jen, I felt right at home.

Zandoli is run by Linda (mother) and Jen (daughter) and they are both warm and friendly, making sure all guests are comfortable and assisting in any way they can. Jen is a fantastic cook, she has previously had her own restaurant, and she has some very exciting and innovative dishes to offer her guests. I especially enjoyed the fresh fish which is brought in most days to the delightful fishing village just along the coast.

My room had wonderful views over the bay, and everything was in exceptionally clean and good order. What a delight to wake up, throw open the doors and wonder at the superb views.. I also enjoyed the trails within the hotel grounds, and to appreciate the gardens themselves, and the hummingbirds darting in and out of the bougainvillea.

Jen makes a neat rum punch, don't miss out on this treat before dinner.

IAs a solo traveller I never felt less than comfortable, and welcomed, at Zandoli and can highly recommend the experience.

My wife and I stayed at the Zandoli Inn in Feb. of 2012 and it was perfect in every way!

The Inn itself was just five guest rooms (all with great views) and was in a very nice Caribbean style that went well with the beautiful, secluded surroundings. Our room was spotless and maintained to an almost new level. I was very impressed that everything looked new and fresh.

If you are expecting ultra luxury finishes in the room like marble floors, big flat-screen TV, high-end fixtures in the bathroom (like a vessel sink and an elaborate travertine shower) this isn't the place for you. But the room was still excellent.

We stayed in room 5 which was on the top floor with the most expansive, unobstructed view of Grand Bay. My recommendation is to book this room if it is available, but all the rooms had nice views--but room 5 was the best!

Linda and Jenn (mother and daughter) went above and beyond in arranging any activity we we wanted to do. They were both engaging, friendly and seemed to be always available to help should the need arise.

Jenn cooked delicious, imaginative, gourmet meals every night that were definitely one of the highlights of the trip. Be sure and opt in for this option!!!

There is also a small pool with a fantastic view of the ocean and there are walking trails through the 4-5 acres of rain forest that are part of the grounds.

The inn is pretty secluded on the south side of the island but within walking distance there is a friendly fishing village. The fisherman bringing in their catch was interesting to watch and they didn't mind us getting right up and taking photos or chatting.

Down the road from the inn the other way was a short hike up to an abandoned radio tower with expansive views.

The capitol, Roseau, is about a 30 minute (hilly) drive away.

There are lots of other activities that Linda or Jenn can arrange for you to do on your own or they can book you on an escorted tour (our tour of the east side of the island to Victoria Falls and the Emerald Pool with Sea-Tac was fantastic and highly recommended).

They also have free internet.

Room Tip: Room number 5 has the best view

We were really excited to be staying at Zandoli Inn, especially when saw the positive reference in the LIAT magazine on the way to Dominica. We sort-of knew what to expect from the journey from the airport, so weren't too concerned by the up-and-down 2 hour taxi ride to the south of the island, which Zandoli had helpfully arranged for us when we reserved.

Zandoli is really well designed. We loved our room, especially the view, and everything was spotlessly clean. Linda and Jenn really helped us plan what to do during our stay. They really understood what we might like, and gave great personalised recommendations.

The accepted wisdom we'd picked up is that Jenn is a great cook. When we arrived we found this is a pretty serious understatement. Jenn is a passionate chef who has had her own restaurant, and it really shines through in the consistently delicious food. Normally when we stay somewhere we like to try different places for dinner every night, but we were really happy to eat at Zandoli every night, where we were really impressed with the variety, presentation, and use of local ingredients.

We split our time in Dominica between Zandoli Inn and Beau Rive, which is also a great place with many detailed reviews on TripAdvisor. We really enjoyed both. We would definitely recommend making Zandoli Inn part of your Dominica itinerary.
