Walk through the double doors and enter a large lobby. Check in is easy. Ride the elevator up to the second floor where you're greeted by parakeets, cockatiels, a grandfather clock, a cozy sitting area, and large breakfast area. From there are two wings, east and west. We stayed in room 220/222. Each room had a full size bed, comfortable chair (not a barber's chair because that wasn't something I wanted in my room) and a tiny little tv. Large windows that let in plenty of sunshine once the blinds were opened. The view from the window wasn't anything but another building; looking down, a rather unkempt parking lot. Our room was clean, the bathroom was clean, the towels were nice and fluffy, the plumbing worked fine. Everything was great. The atmosphere is casual, not stuffy, and the owners were all very professional and cordial. Breakfast begins a 7am, where you can order grits, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc from the menu and it's ready in 5 minutes. Bagels and toast are already waiting along with fruits and cereals. Tea/coffee and snacks are available 24/7. We were able to go to both the train museum and historical museum along with walking the downtown area. Scoops ice cream was great and so was the BBQ place across the street. It felt very secure knowing that without a key no one could come up to the second floor. Somethings I noted to myself, that weren't a problem for me, but could be for others so I will mention them: The 1st floor is probably 14 feet tall, so the wooden stairs are a bit more than just going up one flight. During the day, the owners will shuttle you in the elevator if you call them and ask, but late at night, you're on your own to get upstairs or down. I thought it smelled wonderful everywhere because they use glade plug ins abundantly. If you have sensitivities to perfumes, you might be bothered. Each room only had one chair, and the bed is rather tall, I would have liked 2 chairs in each room, and I'm sure I could have called to ask them to bring another one, but it wasn't a big deal for the one night we stayed. There were no screens on the windows, but it was cool enough we didn't need it opened. The tv is small, maybe 12". There is no DVD combo just a few cable channels. I didn't come to watch tv so I wasn't bothered by it, but I don't think there were aux or usb inputs. You're better off if you want to watch movies, just bringing your laptop. They will tell you at check-in that they don't enter your room, so if you need anything to just call. This means no bed turn down or little candies at night. I highly recommend staying at the hotel. We enjoyed having breakfast with the other guests, and all that the downtown offered. It was nice to see as they were starting to clean the rooms, bottles of bleach. In my mind bleach means clean.

Stayed for a week while on vacation (beach, universal (~20 minutes), Disney (~30 minutes)) Had two rooms (one with two beds for kids) separated by a bathroom. Customer service / personal touch is above and beyond. Enjoyed the breakfast each morning. Older venue but well taken care of by four families that live on site. Would recommend and stay again. Family friendly and very comfortable. Large dining table for breakfast meant that you had opportunity to meet other guests / staff and get ideas on what to do / see in the area. Have stayed in other BBs and felt this one was somewhere between a Hotel and a traditional BB given the layout of the rooms and common area. Multiple restaurants within easy walking distance. Landromat within walking distance was ideal for our longer stay/ beach with kids. Some noise if you have a room that faces the street verses the inner courtyard but not continuous or significant. Winter Garden well connected to Orlando and most anything you want to do via the expressways. Iowa City, Iowa.

My wife and I have enjoyed staying here several times. It's a great place for a quick and relaxing get away. The staff is always so nice and helpful. The location is great. We always enjoy the farmers market on Saturday morning only a block away. We also had enjoyed the City's free Blues & BBQ event.

We stayed one night while on a bicycle tour. Check in was easy and they do a thorough job of explaining all the unusual aspects of their wonderful hotel. They have done an excellent job of restoring the building and rooms to like they were when it first opened. There is a dining room with coffee, water and shacks. Breakfast at a large table shared with other guests so you get to have fun stories. Breakfast is cooked to order from a menu. The let us park our tandem bicycle in the lobby. The location is just across the street from all the good restaurants in Winter Garden.

The hotel is similar to a European Bed and Breakfast. It is a refreshing change from nondescript modern hotels and motels. It is quirky and old fashioned, but you will be made so welcome that it will feel like home. You can wander into the dining/ lounge and help yourself to drinks and snacks and don't feel confined to your room. Breakfast is eaten at a large table with other guests and is the best breakfast we have had in the States. Spotlessly clean and run by wonderful people. Winter Garden is a good location for a break and is especially good if you like to cycle.

Room Tip: Go for your budget. We were on cycling holiday so wanted cheapest. It was still great

We had a lovely one night stay in the refurbished 1920s Edgewater Hotel B and B. Our plan was to celebrate a birthday at the Chef's Table without having a longish drive home after dinner. We found the service kindly and hospitable and overall the stay was good. The elevator was a fun experience. We used it checking in and out but otherwise the stairs were no problem.
Our room, the Anniversary Room in the front overlooking
West Plant Street, was very quiet. Other reviewers complained about the noise. But the windows are now doubled pane. You can hear the difference in the bathroom where the window there has a single pane . Easy to shut the door between the two. The night we stayed someone was singing and playing guitar outside by the gazebo. Although I could hear him from the bathroom, I couldn't hear anything from the bedroom.
During our stay Central Florida was experiencing a cold spell. The hostess told us that room has a guest thermostat for AC, but the central heat is controlled by staff. She pointed out a small electric heater on the vanity which we could control. It made the room very cozy on a cold evening but I wish we had awakened to shut it off. Even my cold sensitive spouse complained the room was too hot by morning. Breakfast was pleasant and the parakeets in the sitting area across from the breakfast room added to the ambience. The lobby is a treat to view with its big fireplace, old fashion desk and access to an ice cream parlor. If you're as lucky as we, someone will be playing the lobby piano during your visit. Nice to see some older Florida buildings, like the Edgewater Hotel being lovingly restored and put to use.
