We had a nice stay. We especially enjoyed the hospitality and the ambiance of teh historic building. Breakfast was tasty and had a nice time talking to other guests from around the country. We will stay there again.

The Edgewater is the perfect location to enjoy the town of Winter Garden, FL! This is our 2nd stay at Edgewater and the staff is always wonderful. They make the stay enjoyable and pleasant. I would recommend Edgewater to anyone staying in the area. Each room is unique in its decoration. A couple blocks from the Orange Blossom Trail.

If you're looking for the chain hotel experience, this is not for you - but if you like some character and are open to giving up on some little things (the gym, pool, etc.) then consider the Edgewater. Room was good sized, breakfast was to-order and yummy. Easy 1/2 hour drive to Disney. Lots of charm and great little downtown area for a stroll. Small but great selection of restaurants within 2 blocks. Live music, good wine. What's not to love?

My wife and I spent a week with the wonderful young families that run the hotel. From the moment we first arrived and learned we needed to call for someone to bring the elevator down to meet us we knew we were in for a unique experience. Our room was small but charming and we met several of our fellow travelers at the communal breakfast table while our breakfast was being cooked to order. Despite the unusual winter cold while we were there we found Winter Garden warm and friendly. It is not the “Ritz” but for us it was more inviting and we heartily recommend it.

I booked up the Edgewater looking for something out of the ordinary chain hotels. In the end, my flight was delayed by 6 hours, so I had to rely in their hospitality to let me in around midnight. The place more than met my expectations. This is pretty much authentic and of its period (1920's), the rooms well appointed and comfortable, with lots of period touches and furniture. Staff universally friendly and helpful with none of the corporate stuff you get from the chains. Setting, in Winter Garden town centre is good - a selection of small shops and eateries, two museums - altogether an interesting little place if you like something different from the malls faceless developments.

The hotel dates to the 1900s and has much character with the antique furnishings, crank elevators, pine flooring. The hotel inn keepers were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is made to order through a reservation you make the night before. The rooms are all furnished differently and some uniquely, but overall the furnishings could have been a higher grade, especially the bedding, mattress, linens, curtains for the price paid (our room, $90.00 night). Our mattress was very well worn and slanted toward the middle so we slept in the middle of a double bed all night (no we are not heavy weights!). We mentioned this to the inn keeper the next morning. The bathroom sink and tub need refurbished. It appears they have been refurbished in the past (sink and tub finish was peeling). You can hear the outside noise, if you have a room overlooking the main street, as the windows are not thin glass and not well sealed. Overall, the hotel is a great location for bicyclists, of which we are, as the West Orange Trail runs right through the center of the town and the hotel was very accommodating to allow our bicycles in our hotel room. This is the only hotel in this small town and we would come back again due to the hospitality, convenience to the bike trail, and the excellent restaurants and pubs within yards of the hotel (wonderful wine bar and french bakery/restaurant). The music festival was also a plus which occurs every year during the first weekend of October with over 30 genre of music and multiple food and craft vendors. A nice family event.

Thank you for your feedback. This always helps us to improve. We appreciate your continued support. The rates of our rooms are about 50% of the national average for bed and breakfasts. We chose this price point in order to have an affordable accommodation that would also introduce people to a historic bed and breakfast atmosphere who wouldn’t normally be able to afford such accommodations. Although we strive for the finest quality furnishings and linens, we are on a budget and cleanliness is our first priority. All of our sheets are between 400 and 1000 thread count, but we choose our sheets by the feel rather than the thread count. Most of the beds have handmade quilts or attractive spreads. The hotel is designed to our tastes which may not please everyone, but it is designed to be lived-in and it is anticipated that the furnishings will need to be replaced periodically as a result. But it is our goal to make everyone feel at home.

Some of the beds have feather tops, and the bed in question does. Many of the guests prefer them because they tend to conform to the body, and the feathers tend to bunch to the outside moving individuals toward the middle. This is a known characteristic of a feather top bed. If this is not desired, the feather top can be removed, revealing the firm mattress underneath. All of the mattresses are new and custom-made of the finest quality. For the firmness of the mattresses we had to rely on experts in the industry. For this reason, feather tops were added to some of the mattresses to create a softer comfort level for those who prefer a softer bed. The rooms with the feather tops are advertised with the room descriptions online. It is up to your individual sleeping preference, but we will always be happy to oblige any request to provide for the guests’ comfort.

The sinks and tubs in the hotel are the original fixtures from the 1920s. They do get refurbished on a regular basis. Unfortunately, there are instances when chips or cracks appear in the finish due to vigorous daily cleaning. While not a health risk, they are aesthetically unpleasant. It is our goal to correct these occurrences as soon as possible. There is a company with whom we contract for this process because it is quite extensive, and this room is the very next one on the list for refurbishing. The rooms on the front of the building directly above the street may have the tendency to allow some street noise to intrude. There is an ordinance in the City against noise after 10pm, and we do our best to make sure this is enforced, but during particular festivals (such as the one described) this can be more difficult. If noise becomes an issue that we cannot otherwise solve, we are always happy to move a guest to an interior room where almost no noise intrudes. Thank you again for your comments and suggestions. We value your input and look forward to seeing you again in the future. Any guest can feel free to contact us with any concerns beforehand or during their stay should they arise.

A wonderful hotel, very clean and charming. The staff was very helpful and unobtrusive. Definitely recommend this hotel for a nice romantic getaway in a charming part of the world. 20 minutes to all the theme parks and yet this hotel sits in the main part of downtown Winter Garden - many bars and restaurants surround the hotel, all very unique and not chain-restaurants. A great place to getaway from it all and still be close enough to everything.
