“Winter Park golf”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

Over the decades, I've always appreciated greens inside any city limits though this is my favorite. A 9 hole course that isn't as easy as one would think, it's very low cost, great for kids. Since it's only 9 holes, playing before it gets too hot is possible. Clubhouse folks always very polite and helpful - of course, it's Winter Park!

“Relaxing. Easy. Inexpensive.”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

I love playing this course being that I was born and raised right around the corner. The course is small which allows you to wrap up your round easily in under 2 hours. You can also walk from you car to the first tee in 30 seconds. Great scenery and the operators are very friendly.

“Helpful Tips for Winter Park Country Club”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

This is my go-to course when I want to play a quick 9 or 18 holes after work in Winter Park. Here are some tips to help you:
1) It's about 5-10 minutes off I75. A couple miles north of the publix plaza that has Ruth's Chris in it. GPS is helpful 1st time in.
2) This is a 9-hole course and rates are pretty reasonable - I've played a bunch lately in the afternoons for $11 (9H) AND replays are only $5. sweet!
3) You can and should walk this course or use a pull-cart. It's an easy to walk course. However if you want a cart they do have them if you need them. Pull carts rent for $3 (regardless of how many rounds you play), riding carts for $8 (per round).
4) There is NO WATER on this course
5) What makes this course fun and challenging is that greens are small and fairways are sometimes tight and/or tree lined
6) It's a Par 35 (9h) or Par 70 (18h). "Front 9 looks the same as the back 9" as the guy in the clubhouse always says. On the 9h course there are 3 Par3's, 4 Par4's, and 2 Par5's. Distances as follows: Hole 1 Par 4 (232yd), H2 Par 3 (150), H3 Par 5 (424), H4 Par 5 (535), H5 Par 4 (320), H6 Par 4 (258), H7 Par 3 (155), H8 Par 3 (146), H9 Par 4 (251). As you can see this is a course that you can use every club in your bag on at some point - it's not your typical short executive course.
7) Beer and beverages are available in the clubhouse
8) I can play 18 holes here in about 2.5 hours at an easy pace. It's great
9) They do have mens tourneys on wed mornings and ladies on thursday mornings so call before you come if you want to play those times
10) NO TEE TIMES needed
11) putting/chipping green to practice but no driving range
12) the course winds through an upscale neighborhood with some nice homes to look at
13) for the most part the course is in nice shape
14) staff is friendly
15) staff says that a bunch of high-level retirees and amateurs play here. I've seen a number of older folks play here that are pretty darn good. Also see a lot of youngsters out here too. It's great for all ages
I've enjoyed my recent visits here this month and hope to return often.

“It's harder than it looks.....”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

Don't let the appearance of 9 short holes fool you. The Winter Park golf course can be a challenge. Ok, it's not Pebble Beach, you'll never see it on the PGA tour, but it's still a fun afternoon. If you have children you want to teach how to play this is a perfect spot to begin.

“A Great Little Course and Exceptional Value”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

We had heard about this course and drove over from Lakeland (an hour and 15 minutes) to play it. Bert, in the clubhouse, made us feel welcome and went out of his way to explain the layout of the course before we teed off. This is a first come, first play set-up - with no reserved tee times. The course is short - about 2500 yards for the nine holes - but gives most everyone the chance to play every club in your bag. Very well maintained fairways, not much rough, out of bounds on several holes (this is not as severe as it sounds if you hit it even reasonably straight), and smooth, fast, small greens. No water, but some well placed sand bunkers.
There are snacks and drinks in the clubhouse, but no grill. Note that downtown Winter Park is only a few minutes drive and maybe a 10 minute walk away. The rates make it an exceptional value - check them out on their website - you will be pleasantly surprised. It is advertised as a walking course (my wife and I did it twice in about an hour and a half each time). They do have a few electric carts if you call ahead to reserve one. A beautiful setting - a delightful walk - this is a gem of a course.
