“Great Prime Rib”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2013

We found Ike's restaurant in the Local Guide book at our hotel, double checked it with Trip Adviser, and with our GPS we found it. It is a little out of the way but well worth looking for. I had the Smoked Beef vegetable soup and it was great. After that I had a wonderful Prime rip as you can see in the Picture. We did not have reservations but they were gracious enough to accommodate us. The staff was very attentive even though were really business.

“A Bit Out of the Way, But Good Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2013

Make sure you take a little time to wander around the street of Yankeetown. Interesting little cottages, since it is a bit of a hike to get there from anywhere. Ike's has a nice location right on edge of Yankeetown and on the Withlacoochie river. A great view of the fishing boats.

They do have an ecotour boatride available. Did not do it this time, but may give it a shot.

Had dinner there. Opted for the panfried grouper and it was quite good. Well-prepared with a nice cornmeal crust and cooked just right. Red potatoes were also cooked through, but still firm. The greenbeans still had a bit of snap. The house salad was pretty basic, but adequate.

Opted for the "Ike's" beer instead of wine and it was quite good.

“Scenic view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2013 via mobile

We were greeted with a new waiter at Ike's that was not familiar with the menu. Meanwhile, the owner's daughter helped out with foods to recommend. The serving sizes were adequate, my Liver and onions were tasty, and the Oysters Rockefeller was a killer. From the sublime to the ridiculous: how do you have Ostrich steaks and Bison Kebobs on the menu, when there is chocolate or vanilla ice cream for dessert? Adding insult to injury was that the ice machine had broken and would not be fixed until the next day, so beverage selection was limited. Yes, it's OK, the view was worth it.

Well..."ridiculous" certainly belongs in this review. The ice machine was NOT broken, the ice tea brewer was broken. We could have went and purchased ice if that were the case. Literally, hundreds of beverage options were available. Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream was offered along with several dessert choices which we always present table-side. Not as our only dessert options as this review would lead you to believe. This review is contrary from beginning to end. It is unfortunate that distorted views can be displayed so easily.

“Great Dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

The menu is very unusual and the food and service is excellent. Even better when combined with the Eco tour offered at the dock associated with the restaurant.

“Really Going Downhill FAST!! What a disappointment”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2013

This is the fourth (and LAST) time I am going to this restaurant. We were there last week - a party of six - Food was terrible!! Where to begin - soup of the day - lousy - tasted like it was out of a can with some veggies added. Entrée - Not just poorly prepared, but poor quality. House wine was extremely poor quality - We noticed that the restaurant was not as crowded as it has been in the past. This place I would skip - other places are much better with good local food. You are better off going to one of the diners out on US 19. Such a disappointment.

Not sure which Ike's is being reviewed here but it is definitely not the Ike's at The Izaak Walton Lodge. A couple of reviews that happen to fall together between many, many positive reviews are hardly representative of the dining experience you will enjoy at Ike's. We find most negative reviews tend to be linked to guests who weren't able to be seated next to a window. we recommend you call and let us set aside a nice table for you and judge for yourself. The owners and their staff operate not one but two highly favored restaurants in the area literally serving hundreds of guests each day. That would not be possible if some of these reviews were accurate.
