We stayed at the Best Western PLUS First Coast Inn & Suites in Yulee, FL on July 8, 2014. After driving for about 10 hours from Miami on our way back to New England, this hotel was an oasis for my fiance and I and our black Labrador to relax and get a good night sleep. Upon walking into the reception area I'm greeted with this most amazing dark wooden staircase leading to the second floor. To the right of the staircase was a little sitting area with couch and further to the right, breakfast area. To the left of the staircase was the reception desk which is where I met Tami, the nicest reception lady I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was very professional, courteous, polite, and efficient. Upon the counter, I noticed a placard informing guests that at 6pm, fresh, hot Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chip cookies and cheese nachos were available to guests at no extra charge. Then I noticed the cookies themselves...they were hot, soft, and oh so delicious! Within 9 minutes of arrival, Tami had me checked in and indicated the way to our room. To my surprise, despite having our dog with us, she said we could walk through the main lobby or utilize one of the other outside entrances. (Most of the dog friendly hotels I've stayed in before wouldn't allow dogs in the main lobby) When I told her of my surprise, she stated, 'We're a dog friendly hotel, they're allowed anywhere.' Our hotel room was situated at the back of the hotel but by no means looked like the back of the hotel. The pool access was RIGHT there! Upon arriving to our room, we delightfully discovered vaulted ceilings, big soft beds with Best Western's trademark five pillows(!), overstuffed chair, entertainment center with a flat screen tv that offered DISH (instead of minimal channels via cable), and a huge, spacious bathroom with a nice consistently HOT and heavy stream of water. The absolute best feature in this hotel is definitely the thermostat directly on the wall instead of on the air conditioning unit. PLUS!!! Since we were only staying for the night, we fell asleep rather quickly and weren't able to fully explore the hotel, but the next morning I went down to the breakfast area and was in awe of all the food selections offered. Along with the typical hot/cold cereals, there was fresh fruit, yogurt, Belgian waffles, HOT scrambled eggs, HOT home fries, and HOT sausage links all in steamer trays. There was also a vast selection of condiments offered for the toast, bagels, and muffins. Check out that morning was flawless and took no more than 5 minutes so we could get back on the road and on our way. I would like to also mention the male employee (sorry I didn't catch his name) who was very helpful in providing a can opener (which I forgot to bring) so I could feed our dog his breakfast. Every employee I met was polite, courteous, and helpful. Great stay! Will be back!! ~M.C., Preston, CT~
