Who knew when we stumbled upon this little country inn and restaurant last year, it would become such a staple in our sanity and relationship! :) We would come every weekend if we could, but we have definitely made it our splurge in our life. We don't travel all over the world, but we make it a point to get to Glen-Ella as often as we can make the time in our life. The whole experience is just a treat!
Because I have reviewed this place at least four or five times this year, I will try to highlight some of the things we enjoy most.
The high points of Glen Ella are the service, the Penthouse privacy, the excellent food, and the scenery. You could not find nicer people than Lucie and Ed and ALL the staff. Everyone is so lovely, and we feel pampered when we are there. It is not a stuffy, formal feel, but a relaxed, comfortable elegance. The Penthouse is really private and even has a shared balcony area, and we sat out and watched the sunset one night. When it got chilly, we sat in front of the fire and talked and read. Our muscles just relax here, and it is so nice to be away from emails and television and stress. Another reason we love this inn is because of the food. We love that we never have to leave the inn, and we can just walk downstairs to eat dinner and breakfast. Dinner is one of the best meals I have ever eaten and it is an experience...not just a dinner...., and breakfast is also a huge treat with so much variety. Finally, the inn is located in such a scenic, serene place. Before the sun went down we walked the property, taking in the rippling creek and the pretty garden area. They really work to provide a relaxing atmosphere at Glen Ella, and it shows!
We work hard and when we splurge, it really has to be something we both love. Ever since the first time we went, I have kept our Glen Ella jar or envelope, and when I think of spending money, I ask myself if I REALLY want whatever it is, or if I would rather stash it away for another great time at Glen Ella. It doesn't always add up quickly, but I know my patience will pay off....and it's something I enjoy looking forward to! It's just a special time for us to enjoy time away from it all.
Thanks to everyone at Glen Ella who make it such a special place!
