“Our Go-To Getaway!”
Reviewed 11 February 2013

Who knew when we stumbled upon this little country inn and restaurant last year, it would become such a staple in our sanity and relationship! :) We would come every weekend if we could, but we have definitely made it our splurge in our life. We don't travel all over the world, but we make it a point to get to Glen-Ella as often as we can make the time in our life. The whole experience is just a treat!

Because I have reviewed this place at least four or five times this year, I will try to highlight some of the things we enjoy most.

The high points of Glen Ella are the service, the Penthouse privacy, the excellent food, and the scenery. You could not find nicer people than Lucie and Ed and ALL the staff. Everyone is so lovely, and we feel pampered when we are there. It is not a stuffy, formal feel, but a relaxed, comfortable elegance. The Penthouse is really private and even has a shared balcony area, and we sat out and watched the sunset one night. When it got chilly, we sat in front of the fire and talked and read. Our muscles just relax here, and it is so nice to be away from emails and television and stress. Another reason we love this inn is because of the food. We love that we never have to leave the inn, and we can just walk downstairs to eat dinner and breakfast. Dinner is one of the best meals I have ever eaten and it is an experience...not just a dinner...., and breakfast is also a huge treat with so much variety. Finally, the inn is located in such a scenic, serene place. Before the sun went down we walked the property, taking in the rippling creek and the pretty garden area. They really work to provide a relaxing atmosphere at Glen Ella, and it shows!

We work hard and when we splurge, it really has to be something we both love. Ever since the first time we went, I have kept our Glen Ella jar or envelope, and when I think of spending money, I ask myself if I REALLY want whatever it is, or if I would rather stash it away for another great time at Glen Ella. It doesn't always add up quickly, but I know my patience will pay off....and it's something I enjoy looking forward to! It's just a special time for us to enjoy time away from it all.

Thanks to everyone at Glen Ella who make it such a special place!

Room Tip: We love the Penthouse Rooms but would recommend any room with a fire in the winter! In the spring...

My wife and I picked the inn at random because we wanted to do some hiking in the area. The inn was so very comfortable... Cozy and clean. The room was wonderful! There is no tv in the room however it made no difference. The garden area was beautiful. The garden house is located very close to the rooms and has a tv... Books... Games a d complimentary drinks and snacks 24/7. This was the perfect stop on our journey. We highly recommend the short drive and short hike to the Minnehaha waterfalls! The breakfast was fresh to order and so delicious. Everyone was so pleasant and kind... We will be back.

We married at Glen-Ella in 2005. Our most recent one night stop over did not disappoint. A great place of peace and comfort. If you are looking for a peace to relax and reconnect in rustic comfort this is it. Highly recommend.

This is a historic inn that is rustic and charming! Our group of 18 educators enjoyed our 3 day retreat and the use of their conference center. The food in the restaurant was DELICIOUS and the service delightful!!! Debbie was great to work with as we planned our event. The innkeepers are dear. Everyone enjoyed the retreat and the hospitality showed to all.

Room Tip: The website shows each room. The decor is lovely. The inn is historic, but that is part of the charm...

Glen-Ella was a wonderful experinece from the moment we arrived. The owners and the entire staff make you feel so welcomed and comfortable throughout your entire visit. The chef and his staff make Glen-Ella a dining destination in the area. We had dinner on the separate evening and each evening dinner was wonderful as was the service.

Highly recommended for couples looking to get away from it all and just relax in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northern Georgia.

Room Tip: Room #16 faces the meadow and the pool.

From the frist moment I rang the Glen Ella to book our stay to our arrival and departure we where very impressed. The owners and staff paid such attention to details, and nothing was to much trouble for them. The food was scrumptious, and the service great. The hikes in the area are well worth spending an extra day for. Best massage I have had in a long time. We have done alot of these type of stays but we will definitely return to this one.
Thanks guys.
