“A real "home away from home"!”

What can I say that hasn't already been said? On July 18, 2014, we spent the night in one of Frank's "motel" rooms, but as I told him, it was more than a motel room - it was a work of art, and a labor of love. The price was more than reasonable ($89), considering the beauty and comfort we experienced. And the warm conversation we had with him ensured that we will surely be back! - Elaine and Jim

We stay in hotels all over the world including luxury properties like the Ritz Carlton. Obviously Mt Aire Cottages in Clayton is not the Ritz Carlton on South Beach in Miami but in a way its sort of a Ritz Carlton experience in quaint beautiful North Georgia.Frank, the owner, has carefully built several rooms and cottages in a quiet treed part part of the quaint Georgia Mountain town of Clayton. The rooms are done in a beautiful country style. Souther culture is apparent and beautiful from the flowers painted on the walls of the bathroom to the beautiful American sayings displayed tastefully on the walls, to the wood pine floors and paneling. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are peaceful and quiet. They are decorated in a clean beautiful country style. The bathrooms are very nice. Even the rain- shower-heads in the bathrooms are great. Frank is very nice and customer service oriented. Its a great place to stay to enjoy the beauty of North Georgia. In the summer we walk through quaint Clayton, have breakfast at the Clayton Cafe, a haircut at the old barbershop, do some window shopping and then drive down to the public beach on beautiful Lake Burton and swim in the warm waters surrounded by beautiful mountains in the distance. In the fall there are beautiful nearby trails to walk through and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. We'd go back in a minute. Fine place! "A" level quality and customer service. Fine job Frank. Thanks for providing customers with such a fine place to stay. Howard Sachs/Washington DC

My sister and I were on a camping and hiking trip when there was a huge thunderstorm while we were out hiking. The storm dropped a huge amount of rain in a short time. Our campsite was in about 4 inches of water when we returned. Luckily our belongings were all still dry. We found a different campsite and proceeded to move. While moving the rain started again. We managed to get everything moved, but we were soaked and some of our belongings were now wet too. We decided to leave and find a dry place to stay for the night. We went into town and found the Days Inn, Sitting in the parking lot and looking at it we decided we could not go in there. It looked bad. I had noticed a sign for a motel and decided to go there and check it out. We had very little hope. Were we ever surprised! Mountain Aire is a gem. Not only is it meticulously cared for, Frank, the owner is incredibly kind and helpful. He did not have a room ready, but quickly cleaned a shower, let us clean up and told us to grab a bite to eat and when we got back our room would be ready. He also told us where to find good food. As promised, when we got back our room was ready. Frank is a wonderful host. Always ready to help and go that extra mile. Midnight the cat is also a joy. We enjoyed our stay so much we spent a second night there before returning to the campground. Thank you Frank and Midnight.

My husband's family held a family reunion over the 4th of July weekend at nearby Black Rock State Park in Clayton GA and my husband and I wanted to stay somewhere not so commercialized. The pictures on Mountain Aire's website were very appealing and the website was very inviting and informative. The dear Aunt that keeps us all together wanted to stay at a place where there was enough room for everyone to socialize after the picnic and she chose the Mountain Aire as well. The family occupied practically the entire property for 4 days and Frank, the owner and caretaker, could not have been more accommodating! The property was exceptionally clean and the grounds were well manicured and gorgeous! Anything we asked of Frank he was more than willing to provide, i.e. coffee, extra towels, etc. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as did the other family members who stayed there, and we will most assuredly stay there again for our next reunion and any other time we are in the Smoky Mountain area. We HIGHLY recommend this property....you won't be disappointed! The area is rich in quaint stores, waterfalls, trails and God's beauty!

Having looked at the accommodation on the strip, the less said the better. So, asking around, we alighted upon the Mountain Aire cabins just a mile outside of Clayton. Frank, the owner, is what you might say 'old school' American hospitality is all about and quite literally nothing was too much trouble (he even printed our boarding passed for out flight home the next day). The rooms, as all other reviews (bar the 2 oddballs) have stated are clean, roomy and traditional, that is, not given a corporate makeover. We would gladly have stayed longer; so, if you find yourself in this area, do yourself a favour and stay here. Downside? well, it's about 50-100 yards from the road but as it's just a backwater, it isn't a problem.

Oh, and before you think that Frank has paid us for this review, he hasn't; it was quite simply, a pleasure.

Room Tip: We stayed in the cabins immediately on the left and opposite the office so cannot speak about the ot...

After a long day of motorcycling across North Carolina and north Georgia, coming into Clayton late in the afternoon, it was wonderful to check into the Mountain-Aire and relax. Frank welcomed us to his property and made feel right at home.
The room we had was clean and well appointed and our bed was extremely comfortable. It was also a treat to be able to walk down the sidewalk into town to eat at the very tasty Rumor Haz It restaurant and stretch the legs.
All in all this is a great place to stay and super value for the money. I will certainly stay here again and look forward to spending more time in the great north Georgia mountains.

We have stayed at Mountain Aire 4 times and each time was great. The rooms are always clean. I like that we have a refridgerator, microwave and coffeepot in the kitchenette. The bed and pillows are comfortable. Frank is such a kind, helpful, friendly man. We like the location--near downtown where we can walk. There are really interesting murals hand painted in each rooms bathroom.
Frank gave us some great tips on sites to see as we traveled away from Clayton in northern GA. He has alot of knowledge of the area.

Room Tip: There are 4 rooms and 3 cabins. We have stayed in the rooms and were happy with all of them.
