Situated on a quiet road near Eskdalemuir in the heart of the border country, Samye Ling is a Tibetan community established over 50 years ago. There is much to see, including the truly beautiful temple, stupa and gardens. You can sit quietly and take in the atmosphere and then enjoy lovely coffee in the coffee shop. I attended lunch time prayers in the temple and was utterly drawn into the atmosphere. There is accommodation in hostel-type facilities. It is such a wonderful surprise to come across such a colourful and culturally fascinating community in the midst of the border countryside. I would absolutely recommend to anybody that they make a detour on their journey to visit this wonderful place.
