Driving home to TN from FL we grabbed a last minute Priceline express deal. It's a little out of the way from the interstate but beautiful!! There was confusion at check in because the paperwork hadn't come through and the front desk girl was flustered but it all worked out. We ate at the Grill - the food was solid and the atmosphere was fun. The rooms aren't spectacular but the setting is just delightful!

Booked this hotel at the last second with Priceline. Took a while to find is not actually in cordele Georgia. Driving up to its gaurd gate where there is no longer a gaurd you are instead met by the local thug vagabond population fishing for their supper. While checking in I was told that I have to pay the "resort fee".......of 7$ ok we'll I ask the annoying desk lady what it cover and she responds with "oh I don't know" I'm not very happy by then so I'm just like take my money thank you drive around the building to the cute villa rooms but not to surprise when I walk in and it smells of your grandmothers musty shoe bin. Not to mention the awkward stains on the chairs and gross carpet that hasn't been vacuumed sence Christ was nailed to the cross....overall everything else was nice and pleasant

Thank you for your feedback about Lake Blackshear Resort. We are located inside of Georgia Veterans State Park which is 8-9 miles from the interstate. The "guard shack" is the State Park kiosk that is open during the day and weekends collected the $5 Georgia State Park passes which are required in all Georgia State Parks. We do have local patrons that visit daily to fish which is what Lake Blackshear is famous for....our fishing. The $7 resort fee covers your $5 park pass as well as guest amenities such as complimentary newspapers and Wi-Fi. I apologize that the rooms were not suitable for you but we do strive to provide a clean comfortable room for our guests.

This was our first time to stay at Lake Blackshear Resort. We stayed over the Fourth of July in the main lodge. The lodge had a very musty smell and the room seemed to have a dampness to it. However the rooms were very clean, the bed was comfortable, and housekeeping had clean towels in our room everyday. The staff was all very nice and polite. We liked the fact that we did not have to leave the resort for anything. We ate in the Cordelia dinning room, went out on the lake, enjoyed the pool, and went to the Cypress Grill Lounge in the evenings to listen to the bands. We didnt even have to leave the resort to see fireworks. We thought the grounds were beautiful with the walkways overlooking the lake. The food in the dining room was always very good and the staff was great! We didnt have reservations for the evening of the Fourth, but they were very quick to work something out for us. We also like the fact that the Cordelia's restaurant even had a bar so you didnt always have to walk down to Cypress Grill which could be crowded and loud. The only suggetion I would have would be more information at the front desk about Cordelia's restaurant and bar and the times it is open through out the day, as well as, Cypress Grill. The pool definintely could use more lounge chairs for sunbathing, there were only about four. Overall we had a great time and will go back.

Room Tip: We would only stay in the lodge due to the fact that the villas are pet friendly and there were alot...

Having visited before in 2005, planned our family vacation at the resort. Overall location and activities are great being on a lake and part of a state park. However guests can do whatever they want. The management did not seem to care our neighbors were drunk and fighting at 2:00 am and 2 calls to the front desk did to get anyone from the office or their security to come handle the situation. The next two nights involved part of their group "picnicking" in the parking lot and passing out in lawn chairs with beer bottles all over. When reported to management and asked why the resort was not being monitored, we were told it was our responsibility to report behavior/problems. Sorry we paid for a clean and fun family experience and the lack of respect by their management team to my family or the other three in villa showed how little they cared about our experience and safety. We will never go back.

We sincerely apologize for any lack of communication and concern that you experienced while at our Resort. We do have 2 local law enforcement officers on site each weekend and during holidays to address issues such as this. Could you please contact our executive management at 229-276-1004 to discuss the details of how this situation was handled so we can prevent any future incidents? We want to make sure that our guests feel comfortable and safe while staying with us.

I did not expect to find a resort / getaway of this caliber in southern Georgia. The resort is located in the beautiful Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park. The park, with its golf course and small veterans memorial museum would be enough of a draw but the resort was a very unexpected surprise. We stayed in a villa. Our small dog was welcomed at no extra charge. The room was clean and neat. Everything worked and the screened porch was an excellent place to relax, unwind and watch the boating and fishing activity on the huge Lake Blackshear. The food in the restaurant and the marina cafe was very good. The service was what you would expect from the smiling, friendly folks of south Georgia...efficient, open and welcoming. This place is a winner!!

Room Tip: For the retired couple the villas are excellent. You can choose ground or second floor. For a fami...

Spent four nights here. The beds were comfortable but doubles are tough to get used to. The in room refrigerator was more than a bit noisy so the sound machine was very handy indeed. Nice clean room with clean bath. The main drawback was that the water got warm, NOT hot. I like hot water not baby bath warm. Other than that very nice. All villa rooms have a screened in balcony or deck that over looks the lake. A nice touch is that they also have a nice slow moving over head fan. And if you are a TV person the TV is an old tube type that does not compare to an LCD, Plasma or whatever.

Room Tip: All of them are good but I prefer the second floor as the view is a bit better.

We saw a Groupon for this resort, and decided to make it into a weekend getaway. We didn't know what to expect, but were very glad to find the resort to be clean, hospitable, and inviting. Our room was in one of the cottages and had a fantastic view of the lake. We enjoyed renting a pontoon boat and cruising around the lake for a few hours, and then came back to the resort to shower, eat dinner, and take a romantic walk around the grounds and along the docks. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay and would like to go back again sometime- both of us mentioned that one day when we have kids, this would be a GREAT 4th of July family retreat!
