We had a great (though short) visit this past weekend. The staff at DSH was friendly and helpful and graciously accommodated our VERY late check-in. The room was lovely and extremely clean. The location can't be beat! We will certainly stay here again on our next family visit.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We are thrilled that you found us lovely and clean and it was certainly our pleasure to accommodate your late check in. Not a problem at all! :) We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.

We stayed here for two nights for our anniversary. Last year we stayed in a different downtown hotel and the Dahlonega Square Hotel was by far the better choice. The room was large and obviously just remodeled. Very quiet yet convenient to everything downtown. We had a second floor room so we heard nothing.

Room Tip: Get a second floor room. There is an elevator which makes handling luggage easy.

We are so happy that you had such a lovely stay and a great anniversary. We hope you will choose to stay with us again very soon! :) As a fun fact, our hotel rooms were actually constructed in 2013 and our lobby area and McGuire Suite are part of the historic McGuire House, built in 1880. Thank you so much for your kind review!

I would recommend this place to friends and family and would stay here again. We usually stay in hotel chains anytime we travel, due to having had a bad experience in the past but we did not have a choice this time due to location and no hotel chains near. ( our pervious bad experience was that our mattress was concave and was super uncomfortable we both just kept rolling into the center and they had ant problem)

So this place has redeemed our views on staying in smaller accomdations. We now might consider it. :)

Positives - my opinions
Kind knowledgable staff(even though we only saw/interacted with the checkin person)
Clean clean clean
Great location for you to enjoy the square and all it offers
Keypad door locks(no making sure you grab that key card!) Firm mattress with comfortable linens

Negatives- my opinions
Limited rooms with King beds
No full length mirror(they have one near elavator, but I like to check my outfit before I leave the room)
Dim lighting in bathroom
If your arriving late you might be out of luck to check in..my hubby called weeks ahead to book and mentioned arriving late and they suggested he stay near airport then drive in the next day. I am guessing since no one would be onsite to check us in.

Neutral
We were told to put the service flag on the door before 9 if we wanted the room serviced. We left room without doing so and when we returned the room had been serviced without that flag on the door. I am neutral on this since we welcomed the fresh towels and beds made, but I would have tidy up a bit and put away valuables had I known they would be doing this.

Thank you so much for your review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon! As we are a boutique hotel, we did have to split up the amount of double queen rooms and king rooms. We have seven king rooms and six double queen rooms to better serve families and couples alike.

As for arriving late, in our email correspondence sent to all guests we do have an easy, after-hours procedure that should you have needed it, would have allowed you to check in after our office had closed. Any mention of staying near the airport was simply for your comfort, as Dahlonega is about an hour and 15 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson and some guests do arrive very late in the evening and may not want to drive to Dahlonega after a certain point. Rest assured, should you need to check in after hours we will certainly and happily accommodate! :)

We do want all of our guests to feel they are experiencing luxury and know that sometimes guests do want refresh service, but forget to put their sign out on the door. We do refresh service for all of our guests unless they specifically ask that they not be disturbed.

We are so happy that we have changed your view on boutique hotels and we will certainly take all of your positives, negatives and neutrals to improve your stay the next time!

We were welcomed by a lovely, cheery Katherine. Hotel is spotless clean and decorated with grace. Our room was huge. Bathroom modern (no creepy shower curtains). Bed was fresh with a sheet bedspread. I don't like quilted spreads. Never know when they have been washed. Lots of pillows. Clean, clean, clean. A few steps from the square. Perfect. All hotels should have this grace.

We are delighted that you had wonderful stay in our hotel! Maria is our head housekeeper and she is very meticulous. She will be pleased to hear your compliments. Triple sheeting our beds ensures cleanliness... we agree with your feeling about quilted spreads! Catherine is our hotel owner and she believes that our guests should be treated as though they are staying in our home. Thank you for taking the time to write and post a review.

First of all, the staff was friendly and helpful from the start. Ceci said she was really happy to see that we played cards in the parlor in the evenings. Fun to hear her tell stories of the town she grew up in, and I now live.

The hotel, and room, were clean and well appointed. We loved that the air conditioner was virtually silent. The bathroom had two double hooks, so plenty of places to hang damp towels, which I find to be a problem at most hotels. At the risk of sounding strange, I also appreciated that the toilet paper was a higher quality than the usual sand paper stuff that most hotels use.

Being located on the edge of the town square made eating and shopping easy. (We especially liked the Bourbon Street Grill restaurant, and the glass blowing shop). Sadly, we didn't make it to the Gold Museum. We are hoping to return to the area again and, if we do, will definitely try to get booked at the Dahlonega Square Hotel.

Thank you very much for such a lovely review. We love when guests enjoy our parlor and are happy that you enjoyed the hooks and the toilet paper. We want our guests to feel as though they are in our home and we certainly wouldn't want anyone to use sandpaper! ;)
We are sorry that you weren't able to make it to the Gold Museum (certainly something to see!) but hopefully this means that another visit to Dahlonega is in your future! We hope to see you soon.
