What a wonderful town, the aesthetics and lay out of the downtown square was well thought out and easy to navigate. The shops and restaurants were plentiful but unfortunately our stay occurred during Hurricane Irma which made things a bit dicey.
The hotel was wonderful, as soon as we entered Catherine made us feel right at home!! Our room was spacious and comfortable and having an elevator available (since we were on the 3rd floor) was very nice. The furnishings throughout the hotel were reflective of its history and tastefully presented. The location to the square was wonderful, we were able to walk everywhere from there, never moved to car!! Thanks to all the staff for making us feel welcome and appreciated.
The first day we were in town the weather was perfect but the second was rainy and very windy. Not only was the weather a factor in deterring our being able to shop and experience different things but it appears that a majority of the businesses are closed on Mondays!! That just happened to be our 2nd day so add in the storm and regular closings, we didn't get to do as much as we'd hoped. What was really distressing was there were NO restaurants open for evening dinner, they all closed because of the storm. Lucky for us and our stomachs, Wendy's stayed open, I'm sure they had very lucrative sales.More
