My husband and I stayed here for an R&R weekend. The staff was so helpful. We loved that it was within walking distance to downtown Dahlonega. We also loved the southern family style dinner! My only complaint with the area was that the downtown area closed a little early. We thought it would stay open a little later than 6-7 on a Saturday considering it is a peak time.

The hotel portion of the Smith House is average at best. The porch is nice, and the bathroom is new, but overall it seems like they need a lesson in B&B management and room appearance. We loved the town and the Bourbon Street Cafe, but the rooms are small and just make you want to "get out" and see the town...if you know what I mean. Very clean, rooms open to the exterior, and no real feel of a small town accommodation.

Spent Thanksgiving evening and weekend in Dahlonega. Really enjoyed The Smith House and quaint town of Dahlonega. The staff at The Smith House was very helpful and pleasant. Thanksgiving dinner was really good and plentiful for reasonable price. Enjoyed meeting some nice folk seated at our table - almost like being at home or Grandma's house. The Historic Smith House had recently added new furniture and was quite comfortable, albeit a bit small. We really liked being just a few blocks from the town square. We strolled around town, ate at couple of homey restaurants, visited many shops and antique stores, as well as the Gold Museum. Also stopped in at one of the wine bars and delighted in tasting some GA mountain wine! It was just the two of us, but this a family friendly place!

We stayed at the hotel over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is close to the town square and an easy walk. We had dinner in the dining room, there were four of us and we sat at a table of eight and had a great time dining and talking to the other four people. We have stayed here before and we will stay there again I am sure.

We were looking for a weekend get away. The website showed a nice place so decided to try it. Couldn't have been happier. The room was just like the photo and the friendliness of the staff was great. The shops were within walking distance of the Inn. Had a great time.

Room Tip: There is a choice of the size of rooms we picked a smaller one.

Recently spent four days at The Smith House in Dahlonega, GA visiting family in the area. This is our first stay, but won't be our last! A modest, old home (late 1800s) converted into a hotel in the 1920s, which has been continuously operated as such, since then. Rooms are small, but augmented by adjacent sitting areas with fireplaces. Furniture and fixtures are either original or consistent with the age of the facility. Everything works. Nice showers. Nice beds. The hotel staff is friendly. The restaurant serves wonderful "homestyle meals". Right off the town square. Lots of parking. Convenient to everything.

Room Tip: Sitting areas are a little chilly on cold days. We turned up our room heater and left the door open...

This was a return visit to The Smith House in Dahlonega, visiting relatives who live nearby. Our deluxe king room (#9) was delightful - plenty of room, comfortable and nicely furnished. The inn is conveniently located near the historic square of Dahlonega, with several restaurants to enjoy and shops to browse. The staff has always been pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Though we did not dine in the restaurant this trip, we usually try to visit it for wonderful family style southern cooking. It goes back to my childhood when my grandparents would take their children and grandchildren there to enjoy the food and have wonderful fellowship. What fabulous memories our return visits provide!

Room Tip: If you are traveling with other couples or family members, you might want to ask for one of the room...
