“Checking out the area”

This is a great place for peace and bird watching. All of the rooms overlook the marsh and offer spectacular views. It is a paradise for bird watching, kayaking, just sitting on the porches, and an artist's dream. The hosts, Jan and Bill, are delightful and have all details covered. We learned all about the history of the area while sipping wine with them in front of the beautiful fireplace.

We could not have been more pleased and surprised to find this great get-a-way on the Georgia coast. My wife and I booked privately and we were pleased instantly with the personal care given to us via email confirmation and phone calls.

Jan and Bill are two great hosts with interesting friends and family members. They work hard to make sure you feel welcome in their B&B, and the details pay off. Both have engaging personalities and are sincerely interested in your interests. Jan's a great cook; Bill is a great host. Five o'clock wine and cheese is not to be missed...the second night they added steamed clams.

We booked a room with a private balcony over the marsh. Jan knew it was my birthday weekend, and when we returned from an excursion on Saturday, she had birthday cake waiting on us in our room.

Breakfast was a real treat, with fresh fruit, juices, and excellent breakfast entrees each morning.

We are looking forward to a return trip in warmer weather when we can enjoy the property outdoors a bit as well.

Room Tip: If you want a purely private balcony, ask for the Seafarer room. The other balconies are not exclus...

My husband and I absolutely loved the Blue Heron Inn. A bit of paradise!
We were met with a glass of wine, retired to our room with a view of the sunset, received
great recommendations for dinner, arose to the sunrise and the best waffles ever!!
The open fireplace was so inviting and the conversation with Bill and Jan just seemed to flow.
Thanks so much! We will be back next year!

We stayed at the Blue Heron Inn in the middle of January. It was during the cold snap. Although it was cold outside, it was warm inside. We enjoyed the fireplace even more. The location is beautiful and serene. The hosts were interesting and real. We would especially recommend touring Sapelo Island and the Hofwyl-Broadfield planation and Fort King George. If you enjoy eating, there are many good seafood restaurants nearby.

From the time we pulled into the driveway we were greeted with a warm and welcoming hello. We were not expecting to have a New Year's Eve celebrating with new found friends, but that's exactly what happened. Jan and Bill were kind enough to include all of the inn guests in the neighborhood gathering, that included great wine, beer, food and wonderful people, We will never forget our 2004 New Years Eve. We will be back!

Room Tip: Great view from the Blue Heron Room.

Our party of five were able to book interconnecting rooms for our one night stay which was ideal. Unfortunately we were there during low tide (it was high tide during the night) which meant we did not see many birds. We were very lucky to be treated to boiled oysters around an open fire that evening with some locals. Despite the clear instructions on how to find the Inn that our hosts provided, we did get lost trying to to find it - on three separate occasions (we must be slow learners!)!!

Room Tip: The seafarer room was upstairs and had a lovely view of the marshland and sunrise.
