We visited the falls the week of Hurricane Irma and some of the access was limited for safety but this was well worth the trip. The falls are awesome. You can see the falls from the bottom or the top with minimal hiking but if you are capable take tennis shoes and hike as far as you can. You will not be disappointed as the nature you encounter is just incredible. We stopped in the lodge for the view and gift shop. These are worth a peak at the top of the mountain.

This is a Great park for hiking or taking in the view of the falls. It wasn't crowded when we visited in September but I'm sure as we get closer to fall it will be popular.

A $5 State Park fee gives you 3 ways to enjoy amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the longest waterfall in Georgia. Drive the park road to the top and enter the Lodge's viewing area for a long view of the mountains. Walk a paved path to a viewing area for a look over the falls. Large gift shop at the Lodge. Hike up or down the trail. Take the stairs, of over 600 steps, for you hearty folks or drive to the bottom of the falls. There is a reflecting pool with trout for fishing. Can be very crowded on the weekends. The second viewing platform gives you a better view of the falls than the third platform. Picnic areas are provided at the top. The natural beauty is awe inspiring.

On a nice day you will be among throngs!
It's hard to find any wilderness here, but it's a good place to see the gorge and hike up and down on busy paths.

Beautiful scenery abd the restaurant is quite nice with pretty decent food. We were there on Labor Day and it was very crowded at the falls. The restaurant had a buffet that was nice. Well worth the drive if you are in the area.
