I found the site relaxed and lovely. For the location I found it very reasonably priced. Yes, the toilet blocks are basic but that is balanced by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff alongside the lovely relaxed feel. We were a group of 6 families with, generally, well behaved children but as you can imagine the ability to always reign them in can be challenging. It was nice that we could do this as par nets rather than be told off. Camping should be some kind of freedom.

I would say we were in the 'no electric' part of the campsite. If you want electric, it looked very busy without much space.

One thing, I cannot the pub, hotel or campsite have chosen to sell even basic provisions... milk! Washing up liquid! Etc...

Oh - and be aware, the pub also has a campsite - make sure you are in the right place before putting up your tents. We turned up tired and hot. We had prebooked so just get the ten tents up, only to have to move them! Be aware.

Would definitely revisit.

The sites location is amazing, but the site isn't. Tired old barn block, so poor my partner used van shower and he never does that. Tent campers setting up between hard standing s people may have wanted. Youths riding motorcycle s through site on a Sunday morning, nobody keeping order, which is strange as there was a list of rules by washing area. Best bit was the bird wildlife and ferry over river for walk into town, the ferryman was a real nice guy. Wouldn't go back.

Generally the site was clean and tidy the wash rooms and showers have seen better days very dated, there was an issues with 1 shower then next day toilet block was closed due to blockage in sewers which was dealt with that day !! Bins next to dish washer area were overflowing but emptied next day. Facilities were adequate.

Tent field was well marked out and well maintained, as the lake is right next to field the fences are safe for children, also ducks do visit for snacks if your quiet.

Overall not bad and at £15 per night you don't expect the Ritz !!!

We stayed with our grown up daughter for five nights on this campsite. The warden was welcoming and helpful, asking if we were ok with the allocated pitch or if we would prefer to choose another from those available. We were happy with the one on offer, which was large, grassy and level, with an area of hardstanding suitable for a caravan or motor home but which we used to park the car. Electricity and water were conveniently situated nearby. The wash block was kept clean but was a little run down and there was often water on the floor. There was also an unpleasant smell, which I suspect might have come from faulty drains or even a cesse pit. In the ladies' there were only 2 showers, 2 wcs and one washbasin but this proved to be adequate even over a busy weekend.

Our main criticism was that rules were not enforced. Dogs were supposed to be kept on leads, but on 2 occasions loose dogs entered our tent. We were also kept awake until well after midnight one night by the people in the next tent laughing and shouting. Another factor was the noise from the pub, as there was obviously some kind of event going on over the weekend which involved a very loud disco and noisy revelling well into the wee small hours. For those who would be inconvenienced by this it might be worth enquiring about such events before booking.

In summary, it was a nice campsite in a lovely area. We would certainly consider returning as we did not have time to explore all the attractions in the area.

Found this by accident after looking through the Camping and Caravan book. Beautiful coming along the lane and finding the site well cared for and, as someone else said, lovely short grass. Toilets and showers clean. Clean washing up facilities and recycling and refuse bins all grouped together. It cost us £25 for just the two of us with hard standing and electric so not one of the cheapest but non-the-less very enjoyable and restful. Lovely location and the manager couldn't have been more helpful
