Visited with some friends whilst on a Severn Valley Railway trip. As per previous reviews, landlord was not very welcoming. Had a poor point of beer and there was no interest in putting it right.

I took a group of friends on a day out on the Severn Valley Railway and we stopped off at Arly, unfortunately this is the only pub in the village.

The building itself seemed pleasant enough though the landlord and staff were very rude and unfriendly. One of my friends ordered a hot chocolate and the gruff reply from the barman was "It's a bar, love" and pointed at the beers. After it was pointed out that hot chocolate was in fact on their menu (along with a selection of other hot and soft drinks) he reluctantly shuffled off to make one - badly.

As we didn't feel welcome inside we sat outside with our drinks in the very run down beer garden, this was mid-December but the cold outside was nothing compared to the coldness from the staff inside the pub.

visited this pub during a stroll by the river, a lovely sunny day in July 2013.
we arrived just before noon, the door was open and we entered, we met the landlord who told us he wasnt really open yet, but would serve us , we asked about food , and were told that there were sandwiches and chips , so we ordered that and retired to the garden, lots of benches under shady trees, was really enchanting, views of the village and foot bridge, The food arrived quickly and was well cooked and enough of it.
id recommend this pub for a stop over, shame about the grumpy landlord though !

Stopped off the train at Arley Station, Severn Valley Railway on Saturday 21 Sept for a late lunch - 'station buffet' was heaving and not very appetising anyway so we walked down to The Harbour. Good selection of real ales, welcoming staff and plain, unpretentious pub food at a reasonable price, cooked to order - excellent chips! Toilets were clean and well appointed. Not fine dining by any means but doesn't claim to be. A very pleasant, if slightly quirky, Country Pub in which to relax away an hour with a couple of pints and definitely not deserving the 2 'Terrible' ratings from 27 August.

I really like this place - as previous reviewers have said its not 'perfect', but what it lacks in some areas it makes up for in others, such as character. A proper local atmosphere, everyone at the bar seemed to know each other, and as an 'outsider' I was made to feel most welcome - invited to chat with some of the regulars. Personally I prefer these 'bit rough round the edges' places to the similarity and consistency you get with chain pubs - boring! Pubs like the Harbour have a history and you can see a bit of the landlords past and present in the pub itself. Nice place, would certainly recommend.
