“POOR CUSTUMER SERVICE!!!!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

Im part of a scrapbooking group (around 30 ladies/ mothers/wives and professionals). For the past 2 years we have been going to this Lodge from thursday to sunday on the last week of january. Every time that we are there the owner always find something to complain about our group, last time he wanted us to turn the lights in the craft room off early( some of us like to scrapbook all night), we have too much trash( yes we are scrapbookers and we also cook in there), the heater is another problem, the bonus room was locked because "you did not pay for it". The place is nice , but the owner goes above and beyond to screw you!!!!! yes I said it.
I will never come back to this place, they mislead custumers with their webside. Do not believe everything that you read in their site,

Room Tip: just don't go there

We had our first family reunion here for a 3 month old to a 91 year old 22 of us The place was perfect. The way the units are layed out we were all able to have a bathroom for our family and plenty of sleeping space. The grounds are gardens are beautiful. So nice to wake up, grab a cup of coffee, and sit on a rocking chair watching the sun come up in the morning. The owners were very accomodating and helpful. I can't say enough good things about the place, ALL OF US LOVED IT. Thanks again we had a faboulous time!!!

As a Corporate Event Planner, my clients and their guests LOVED this location. With spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, huge swimming pool, tennis courts, horseshoe pits and golf across the street - we certainly were able to keep everyone occupied. We had our meetings, meals with our own caterer and activities - all at one location. Bringing in our caterer eliminated the need to travel off property, supply transportation etc. and gave it a very special atmosphere. I know many of the guests will be staying with Bob and Vickie in the near future as a vacation as they were that impressed. The villas are spacious, fully equipped, very clean and comfortable - an excellent value. I am looking forward to the opportunity of bringing more clients to their location.

This is a good place for a group to gather. The view is lovely. Be sure to get a room looking toward the mountains. That's what makes this place special. The owner does a great job with the plantings. He has put a lot of work into this place, and it shows in the flowers and shrubs.

They have a large meeting area and a huge pool. The tennis courts are not in super shape, so I wouldn't make that a centerpiece of the visit. But they are fine for a casual match. The tenth tee of the adjacent golf course is steps from the parking area.

The units in the lodge itself are very large. It's not luxurious, but it was very clean and creatively decorated with a nice mix of furniture. The folks I was with found it very relaxing. It's about a 10-minute drive to town.

Spacious accomodations, beautiful pool, huge kitchens and porches, washer/dryer, exceptional view!! What more would you want for a vacation in the North Georgia Mountains?? The golf course is within walking distance and there are several things for kids to do (basketball, horseshoes, tennis) in addition to swimming. We have stayed here several times - it's a favorite!

Among the many rental cabins, B&Bs, and other small accommodations in the Ellijay area, Whitepath Lodge offers large, condo-type rooms with full kitchens and facilities for group retreats. There is a large outdoor swimming pool, two tennis courts, a golf course, horseshoes, and a common room/meeting room that can be rented for an additional fee.

There are certainly good things to say about Whitepath. The rooms were clean, and the common room, which is right beside the pool, was cozy and had lots of tables and chairs and a large kitchen. The view from the east side upper floor rooms is amazing. The garden area, while small, is beautiful and serene. Den furniture in the units is adequate (Warning: The interior photo on Whitepath's website shows the nicest room available -- most rooms are not as well appointed. The site's claim that rooms are decorated with "period antiques" is dubious, unless Formica-covered tables are now considered antiques).

Rooms in the main lodge are HUGE (1850 sq. ft.), with large porch and deck areas, and nicer kitchens than in most suburban homes. That said, the floor layout is very strange and unappealing, and wastes much of the space. As an example, the master bedroom in each unit has two parallel, tunnel-like bathrooms approximately 25 feet long. Each bathroom is very narrow and has a large walk-in closet at the end, though it is hard to see how guests would need such cavernous storage space. A larger master bedroom with a generous single master bathroom would have been a much better -- and more attractive -- use of this space.

The mattresses are awful. Kitchen dishes, utensils, and cookware are provided, but they are a largely unattractive mish-mash of odds and ends. Only one thin dish rag and dish towel are provided, so plan to use the dishwasher. Guests who want to use the pool should bring their own towels because there are barely enough towels provided for bathing.

There were various maintenance issues in our unit, such as vertical blinds that would not close, a kitchen sink stopper that broke, doors that would not close and/or lock, and a bathtub stopper that would not work. Our unit was connected to the adjoining unit by a "double door" typically found in hotels, but it was not locked and our key would not fit the deadbolt -- At one point, a child from next door wandered into our unit. The floors are thin, so if you are on a lower floor, prepare yourself to hear your upstairs neighbors walking about.

The smaller Shenendoah units are two stories and have a cozy, camp-like feel with a rich pine smell. Each floor has a balcony overlooking a wooded area -- There is no view of the mountains, but the steep hillside puts you in the treetops where you can observe birds and other wildlife. The units are rather cramped, so don't expect a lot of elbow room.

Despite the problems, there are many reasons to recommend Whitepath Lodge, except for the price. Given that one can easily rent entire cabins in the Ellijay area for $125-$150 per night, Whitepath's rate of $200-$220 for a room in the main lodge makes it a poor value. If having a pool and other recreational amenities is important to you, the Shenendoah units are a relative bargain at $120-$140 per night. My advice for a large group looking to get together in Ellijay is to rent several log cabins in the same general area, with one of them large enough to host group activities.
