We were in a private room with ensuite bathroom. The staff was very helpful and friendly. As regards cleanliness, well the bathroom was full of long hair, otherwise ok. The location is good if you plan to do things in downtown or catch the catamaran to providencia, otherwise it is not very appealing, it is full of shops selling duty free junk. The bed was comfortable enough, but the hostel was very noisy with people shouting and doors slamming till the early hours of the morning, so did not sleep very well. I understand it is a party hostel, but perhaps the party can be limited to the bar area after midnight and not by the reception desk? The breakfast is toast and cereal with tea, coffee and juice. Overall an average stay.

Even though we were not able to stay in the hotel since we didn't book it prior to our arrival and it was all booked, the attendant helped us look for other affordable hotels at 2am. Next time I'll go there, I'll make sure to book it in advance!

San Andres is definitely worth visiting if you can get a cheap flight. However, unfortunately El Viajero has a monopoly on the hostel market claiming to be the only one (even though we saw a sign for another hostel) and as a result they have a constant stream of business despite the building being ill suited to a hostel (it has tiny / non existant communal spaces) and the staff being extremely unhelpful and rude. The wifi broke whilst we were there and every day they said it would be fixed. We stopped asking after 5 days.

So we decided to fly out to San Andres for a four night stay when travelling around Colombia. Overall the hostel was fine but there are a few things that I will signal out. Firstly the wifi is just terrible, never seems to work which is a pain. Secondly the beds gave me a terrible back, maybe new mattresses are needed? Also the girls at reception, if they smiled it would make such a difference. It gives the hostel such a bad image having grumpy people there.

Much cheaper than the overpriced hotels on the island. Room was clean, and surprisingly quiet at night. Breakfast was ok, views from the balconies are good, staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a double room, but there were dormitory options too.
